It actually has an interesting portrayal of post-war Japan. Not just a monster movie

So I have heard. In fact, that interests me more than the Godzilla part, although I'm also interested to see how that's woven into the story.

And considering the original Godzilla is a response to U.S. nuclear weapons, specifically the men killed when the Daigo Fukuryū Maru fishing ship was hit by radioactive fallout from the U.S. Castle Bravo test, that makes sense.

I convinced my daughter to watch it with me this afternoon and I'm glad I did because we both enjoyed it.

spoilerI definitely did not expect "atomic breath" to be so literal.
