But there is already r/Malaysia discord no? Why can't that discord be expanded to support this?

Yep, but that server is mainly for casual interaction and chit chat, this server is mainly for support for this website, so it will be easier to setup the channel in way that fit the purpose. It's an external channel for Meta, in a way.
