Well that makes me not want to buy gigabyte products ever again...

They do make some good products, but they also make tacticool RGB gamer motherboards that are quite showy. My latest build is all black, no lights.

Never had any issues with mine but I know they're not known to be the best

Used em for nearly 20 years but their newer stuff has some reduced build quality in favour of aesthetics. The model I bought had particularly bad coil whine (as did it's RMA replacement) so I shifted from them.

my new gigabyte mobo also has an annoyingly loud constant buzzing sound, extremely slow post and comically buggy bios. a few friends had to rma their gb mobos because DOA, loose ram slots, instability etc... also my gpu is gigabyte 3060ti and it has a lot of problems too, nvidia is mostly to blame but i think it's gigabytes fault that the fans minimum speed is very loud, around 1200 rpm. the fans are normally off but the temps climb to around 60c even when idle, then fans go WROOOOOOM for a few mins and then turn off. my new case has air intake at the bottom, 2x 140 mm fans blowing right into the gpu but still the damn gpu fans sometimes turn on even when just watching a video. and it's not because of dust, the heatsink is perfectly clean.

Why?

Most online gaming is fps or RPG. Why would a magazine be offensive if a sword wasn't.

[-] apocalypticat@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

I'm going to guess because of the gun deaths epidemic.

I'm against encouraging the gun worship epidemic that kills tens of thousands a year.

Did you not look at the picture or you're just trolling?

[-] Madison420@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

Are you?

It's a motherboard aimed at higher end fps clan play, it's a relevant object on a relevant object.

So I say again, rpg themed system with a sword on it. Offensive?

Cars and drugs on a GTA themed system. Offensive?

I think you're just picking something benign to be upset about in the most safe time in human history. Statistically you were more likely to be murdered in 1950 before the gun worship culture was as prevalent then today. Teach, compassion, life skills and critical thinking, fear mongering over inanimates isn't particularly useful.

[-] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works -3 points 4 months ago

Gun violence isn't only about murders.

There's no sword violence epidemic.

Go tell people in third world countries or first Nations that guns have made their life safer than any other time in history and see what they have to say about that.

And yeah, a drug themed motherboard would be fucking offensive, what an idiotic question!

[-] Madison420@lemmy.world -1 points 4 months ago

Notice that I didn't say it was.

Historically there is and statistically gun violence is lower now than ever before hence no epidemic. It's just what you see most on the news because that's how they hold your attention and make their money.

They'd agree.

How? You don't have to buy it. I'm sure you own some shit other people find offensive, what of it?

https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/04/26/what-the-data-says-about-gun-deaths-in-the-u-s/

While 2021 saw the highest total number of gun deaths in the U.S., this statistic does not take into account the nation’s growing population. On a per capita basis, there were 14.6 gun deaths per 100,000 people in 2021 – the highest rate since the early 1990s, but still well below the peak of 16.3 gun deaths per 100,000 people in 1974.

Highest since the early 1990s, doesn't sound like it's lower than ever before to me, right?

A downward trend is still downward, you're making mountains of molehills that are actively being graded back down to level.

[-] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 4 points 4 months ago

Have you also boycotted every game and movie that features guns or is motherboard decorations where you draw the line?

[-] Sir_Simon_Spamalot@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's a massive loss to them 🙄
