The 20th century only makes sense if you assume that all the Western Allies regret siding against Hitler because Communism was always the biggest threat.
We did side with hitler tho. All of western europe was signing non agression pacts with the nazis throughout the 30s but you only hear about the molotov ribbentrop pact. We sided with the nazis hoping they'd go east. If they did, we would have joined them
