Maybe he's trolling them? I'm probably being to generous...
There is a cross section of Christian fundies who think that the earth was covered in giants because of David and Goliath.
I think that's more a Nephilim thing but honestly, who knows with those people?

This is correct. The Bible talks about giant people all the time. In creationism conventions they'll talk about all the evidence for giant people all the time (Beware).
