Yeah, like the plot always depends on Zelda's magic, so while she's not the playable hero and needs Link's help damzel in distress doesn't seem accurate. I mean in TOTK

Zelda literally turned into a giant light dragon and travelled back in time to restore the master sword lol.
She's a cool ninja and leader of the Sages in OoT
She's a cool pirate and helps fights Ganondorf with Link in WW
She is basically organizing a covert resistance from her castle in Twilight Princess and also helps fight Ganondorf.
In Skyward Sword she holds a magical seal in place for a thousand years.
