In the darkened boardroom of ShittyStreamingService, the presentation continues:

"....and so we've set our price at $15 per month. This is a reasonable price that everyone in our target demographics can afford."

What the numpties at ShittyStreamingService haven't considered is that yes, maybe I can afford $15 per month. But I can't afford it for each of the 7,836 different streaming/music/gaming services!!

There was some discussion on Q&A about this and related crime topics.

The point was made that if you just start locking people up you probably don't help and may turn them into criminals.

One panellist said that stats show that most of the crime is done by a relatively smaller number of repeat offenders, and locking up everyone else doesn't help.

But I don't think anyone addressed the elephant in the room. What do you do with that smaller number of repeat offenders that are committing the majority of crimes?

It seems like when you allege rape, you are the problem.

It's complex, and way too hard for me, but if any rapey cunts would stop raping, that would be great.

Couple of things that might be useful:

  • Setup remote desktop access using VNC/RDP. It can be useful to access your PC etc while using your phone or other devices. Or accessing a raspberry pi on your main PC
  • Setup a virtual machine and install Windows in it. It might be a good way to think about migrating to linux as your main OS
  • Steam. See how performance on Linux compares to Windows for your games.

On Four Corners tonight (check your local guides):

Channel Seven bills itself as a family network, but a Four Corners investigation finds it to be a "second chance club" for senior men, described as a "degrading, soul-crushing" workplace.

Expect the attacks on the ABC to intensify .....

Artificial satellites? Just for fun, I'm interpreting that as fake communication satellites, so:

'Unlike traditional communication satellites, artificial communication satellites are not launched into space via costly rockets using environmentally unfriendly propellents.

Instead, Artificial Satellite Systems (or ASS) make use of artificial intelligence to communicate via Frequency Adjusted Radio Tower Systems (known as FARTS).

FARTS allow for rapid, ASS to ASS communication. Additionally, Multiplexed Over/Under The Horizon' allows for increased speeds if ASS to MOUTH is enabled.'

Every now and then I think 'OK, this time I surely should be able to switch over to Wayland!'

And there's always one application or use case that stops me.

Yeah, I'm on nvidia which hasn't helped either...

We're all equal.

To borrow from Animal Farm, "We're all equal, but some are more equal than others".

I use old.reddit.com, and had trouble logging in from there today. "Too many redirects". I also use the Redirect to old.reddit.com extension. When I disabled that, the login link it now takes you to is https://www.reddit.com/login/. That, of course, takes you to www.reddit.com.

The old 'popup' login box has been removed. I also noticed that the in sub logins where they used to have username/password entry boxes have been removed.

More reddit enshitification to try and make us use their horrible UI.

Last I saw half the elected lawmakers have investment properties.

They'll never make any laws that will impose additional requirements or possibly impact property prices negatively.

Fascinating analysis of the casing stones on the Great Pyramid.

My thinking boils down to this:

  1. We spend billions each year, but studies show the gap between other Australians and indigenous is worsening. We should be trying something. Anything.

  2. For those concerned about 'the details', my understanding is that the pollies are responsible for those after the referendum. Do you really think a parliament and senate made up of mainly old white guys are going to significantly change how the country works? Seriously?

So, we've got nothing to lose, and hell, wouldn't it be awesome if it actually had some positive changes!
