It would be kinda funny if we crawled back to the French, begged them to build us some subs, and then the French tell us to "Mange de la merde!"

"can you garden for someone instead of renting?”

"How to get free child minding using overseas labour!"

They better not put the bat convention attendees on the hotel floor above the pangolin convention guests!

Think of the children!

Only when we can use it as an excuse to curb freedoms, and never if it conflicts with money!

nothing stops people from shifting to a non-australian instance and just keep using the site

We get to keep using the site AND traffic costs decrease for aussie.zone. Win-win!

"...hurry or you’ll miss out..."

It's interesting that I listened to some podcasts recently, and the general idea was that the FIRST to get an AGI could never be caught. The slope on the curve will just be too steep.

All other AGIs will be like a cute puppy in comparison. And humans, well, we might be like a microbe....

I heard somebody say that Pauline should go swimming with Great White Sharks

I was doing some random 'writer prompt' thinking about this today, while thinking about the current/future car industry.

If most of our cars have self drive technology, and they can identify people/pedestrians, then in a state of war, couldn't the programming be changed to target them instead of miss them?

And for electric cars, couldn't an enemy state alter the battery management system to cause a runaway thermal battery fire? Imagine every electric car co-ordinated to all catch on fire at the one time. That could make an interesting story.

Just to be clear, I don't think this would happen, or even know of it's actually possible.

It just made me think, well, I couldn't prevent this by buying an Australian car. Which made me sad and miss the old Aussie built cars.

Can't wait for us to change supplying country 3 or 4 times, paying massive contract breaking penalties each time, for us to pay more for a worse performing ship that arrives hugely over budget and 15 years too late.

3 people charged since 2018. And "[s]he is the first foreign national"..

Ooh! So scary! Must be a major threat to the very existence of Australia!

Noticed this as I drove past the other day. A crow getting stuck into a bin, with a cocky standing by watching. Crow hasn't worked out that blue is the paper recycling bin. Yet.

Clearly, the bin chickens have been on a recruitment drive.

Apologies for the potato quality. It's a cap from a dashcam while it was raining in low light.

Congrats to Caitlin Foord, Steph Catley and Kyra Cooney Cross for being part of Arsenal's win over Barcelona to take out the Women's Champion League.

Great effort from the underdogs!

Also, always great to see Aussies playing in big games and big leagues, because it bodes well for our national team.

On Four Corners tonight (check your local guides):

Channel Seven bills itself as a family network, but a Four Corners investigation finds it to be a "second chance club" for senior men, described as a "degrading, soul-crushing" workplace.

Expect the attacks on the ABC to intensify .....

I use old.reddit.com, and had trouble logging in from there today. "Too many redirects". I also use the Redirect to old.reddit.com extension. When I disabled that, the login link it now takes you to is https://www.reddit.com/login/. That, of course, takes you to www.reddit.com.

The old 'popup' login box has been removed. I also noticed that the in sub logins where they used to have username/password entry boxes have been removed.

More reddit enshitification to try and make us use their horrible UI.
