A couple of years ago, I hooked up my laptop to a monitor and to watch a movie from a streaming service. Since the monitor (a budget AOC model) didn't support HDCP, it didn't play.

Here's the amazingly sophisticated hack I used to get it working: Instead of using the monitor as an additional display, I mirrored the laptop screen to it. Millions of dollars developing DRM defeated by a single key stroke.

I can't be the only one who wants to see both of them losing this fight.

A surprisingly interesting video that taught me some new things about the NES and this era of gaming. Highly recommended!

Scope creep: The game. Trailers do look marvelous, but one has to question how realistic it is that all of these complex systems not only work well on their own, but also manage to form a coherent whole. This could become a trendsetting Indie darling - or more realistically end up as a highly flawed niche title that only manages to find a few dedicated fans that are willing to overlook its issues (if it ever releases).

The developers are entirely unknown - possibly unproven - and the publisher's only successful games on Steam are an RPG (Tale of Immortal) with just over 50% positive reviews that doesn't even work if you don't have your system set to Chinese, an action tower defense game (Outpost: Infinity Siege) with a OpenCritic average of 58 and a 2.5D Cyberpunk RPG (ANNO: Mutationem) that is probably their highest-rated title with an OpenCritic average of 74 and 80% positive reviews.

Before I sound too negative, I hope this title succeeds. I would definitely play it a lot if it manages to deliver on even half of its promises. Art style, perspective and setting remind me of the last classic city builder Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, building mechanics are reminiscent of various Minecraft-adjacent titles and the multi-genre concept isn't too dissimilar to The Guild series. All of this is very exciting, but this is exactly the kind of ambition, possibly overambition, that tends to kill studios.

In case people don't read the article: You need to supply the ROM yourself, so Nintendo's ninjas are powerless.

Probably because they want to use this card with an old board, which means an older CPU, which makes no sense with a card this powerful, since it'll drastically bottleneck GPU performance. It's a common mistake people are making though.

And Trump will be better for Palestinians how exactly? Anyone who prefers inane grandstanding instead of picking the lesser evil (no matter the topic) is a moron. That's how politics work. The ideal candidate doesn't exist and will never exist. If you ever come across one who 100% mirrors every single one of your opinions, get your head examined.

Edit: Also, every single credible poll out there indicates that American voters - idiotically - picked Trump due to their dissatisfaction with the economy. Middle Eastern wars were not high on the list of priorities for most voters.

That app is a special kind of inhuman torture.

Voting for a third party candidate only helps Trump. They might as well just vote for him directly. The outcome is the same and if America and the world are unlucky enough to experience a second Trump term, then these idiots would strongly regret their decision. Palestinians wouldn't be the only ones to suffer from this.

Because that's where the audience is. Peertube is deader than the lemmyverse. You are essentially making the silly "but yet you choose to live in society" argument.

Agreed. This is a superficial history lesson masquerading as an article. While nothing lasts forever and Steam has its issues, the examples being cited are not supporting the not outrageous prediction that Steam might get worse in the future. It's just not very insightful.

Anyone who, unlike the author, actually had to deal with early versions of Steam can attest to the fact that in most ways, the platform has dramatically improved.

What is sexy in style here? They are wearing loose, long-sleeved robes up to the neck. Makeup and hair are just following current trends.
