I don't know, that thread looks like ignorance being replaced by knowledge and context; it looks like deprograming of past propaganda despite any detractors using the old messaging, cliches, slogans, and talking points. The discussion there genuinely seems to be earnest and unindulgent of Zionism and its talking points, with corrective information and argument dispelling the impressions people once had about Israel and Zionism.
I think this marks a turning point where people no longer regard Israel as sacred, and are beginning to see - and entirely due to Israel's own open, brazen, and genocidal actions and rhetoric following October 7th 2023 - Israel as what it is as defined by its own actions, and not its impression.
Isn't that the state though? The state is the avatar, the apparatus, the tool and apparatus of the dominant political class of a given polity. It doesn't necessarily need to be a government position, agency, or NGO/NPO connected thereof.
I think it was when they were covering the DNC? It was fairly recent. I cna't recall the exact episode, but one of those DNC coverage episodes.
Brace talks about it briefly; he just says that Americans are exhausted from actually engaging in politics and that's just not where they were. He was dryly describing a situation rather than lamenting it or admonishing Americans for their apathy and resignation.
I've seen a lot of articles and youtube videos about how this war triggered Israel's death throes, and the parallels between Israel and apartheid South Africa & Rhodesia, but those media which highlighted the internal contradictions of Israel, its collapsing economy and international standing, often overlook how desperate the US is to have a satellite state in the West Asia enough to brazenly establish its support for Israel.
All this, despite the damage to US prestige and diplomatic credibility (notwithstanding that the US state does not nor needs to care about internal dissident or crisis) because the US can brute force its support and suffer little to no economic or political repercussions.
Israel is a nuclear powered state with very powerful supporters in the US and Europe, as part of a symbiotic relationship these powers have with each other, to ensure the economic and political dominance of the larger political community known as the "West".
My larger concern is what Norman Finkelstein has been saying recently: Israel has defeated Hamas in Gaza by destroying Gaza itself. Therefore, the probability that Israel has the power and support needed to enact its depraved agenda of ethnic cleansing and genocide, and survive its repercussions on the world stage for a decade before it goes back to the status quo of pre October 7th, is a very plausible future.
Israel has managed to pursue this for over a year now.
Is it even viable to live in Florida anymore
Don't mean to be a pedant, but I've a question in search of primary or strong secondary sources:
- According to the USDA, the average American eats one tonne or ton (2k and 2.2k pounds) of food a year.
How many tons/tonnes of food got into Gaza for the past year? (Maybe Israel revealed this data itself but tried to divert/obfuscate it)
whats going on in the West Bank now?
What you are trying to assert in your quote is that Trump is more dangerous because he is more deranged, bombastic, and depraved. The truth is that this is only in appearances, and you and I both know that it is the appearances that upset you. If the Republican did it with more poise, they'd be as rehabilitated as Bush is.
Trump's fantasy and hypotheticals are taken more egregiously and strongly than the living actions that the persons and administration of the US federal government take in regards to living people. (e.g: Trump's role in January 6th is described as eating pork on Yom Kippur, and yet his role in letting thousands of people die in Puerto Rico from hurricane damage are all but forgotten.)
In this same vein, Biden has the blood of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians by actively financing, distributing, and providing legal and diplomatic cover for the state of Israel. These are active policies that take effort and discipline to maintain; they are not inevitabilities and natural disasters but active designs and permissions being assigned.
Your contention is that Trump makes you feel bad and you wanna feel happy. Democrats do the same policies of Republicans, but at least they pretend to be nice and remorseful and that's good enough for you.
I love these bunjee jumper commenters who just make outlandish claims and assertions, refuse to defend them, but let the Hexguard dunk on the comment anyway.
Brace on TrueAnon made an observation that the more affluent Americans just don't want to deal with politics anymore. They find it exhausting and discomforting. Which is why liberals were so quick to ghost Biden and relieve that he stepped down.
There was a youtube link in my recommendations about the beginning of the disintegration of Israel, by Ilan Pappe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgkbhEzwd-8
How plausible is his argument? He seems rather certain.
