I've replied to the person in question.

You may have picked the wrong instance then, because as the blahaj.zone instance admin, I actively remove "mean things". Words designed to harm others, whether it's bigotry, or harassment or insults, are not an "occupational hazard", they undermine the community and hurt folk when they're vulnerable.

Hateful words will get you banned here, and apologism for them and downplaying their impact is not welcome.

CachyOS. I use it because I am a fan of Arch based systems, rolling releases etc, but CachyOS is optimised for my generation of hardware, and has lots of good default configurations for various apps. They have a customised proton version, a good default fish profile etc.

tl;dr It's Arch, but optimised, and slightly more pre-configured out of the box.

Nicolás Mihanovich, an abandoned cruise ship sits moored on the bank of Rio Iguazú, Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, at the apex of the borders between Argentina, Paraguay and Brasil.

It was originally designed as a luxury ferry between Argentina and Uruguay, but plans were made to turn it in to a floating Casino. The plans stalled, and now the ship sits, largely abandoned

The photo is taken from near the base of the Kangaroo Point side of the Captain Cook bridge, showing the curve of the river, with Brisbane City on the left bank, and the Kangaroo Point cliffs visible on the right bank.

For those of you who don't know, the Blahaj Zone admin team runs a matrix space for gender diverse folk. Similar to lemmy, it's designed with a few "official" channels, but is otherwise a community curated space, with channels run by our members. You don't have to be a blahaj zone user to join.

If you're already a matrix user, you can head straight to our application room https://matrix.to/#/#gv-apply:chat.blahaj.zone, or by searching for #gv-apply:chat.blahaj.zone from within your matrix client.

If you're new to matrix, you can find some more details and an instruction video on how to get up and running here https://chat.blahaj.zone/c/genderverse/

I rejoined flickr recently (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

I've been using flickr on and off for 20 years now, so my flickr time stream gives me a nice snapshot of how my photography has changed and improved over the years.

In theory, I've got all of my old photos available, but on flickr, the ones I posted are the ones I considered my best at the time. So my flickr timestream gives me an perspective on my photography that the 10's of thousands of photos in my home collection does not.

It's been really interesting going back through my old photos and seeing the change first hand...

The expression on that second birds face is meme worthy!

I feel like I need to do more than just post a picture. In this case, the picture really does tell the story in a lot of ways, but still, there was a lot of pain and trauma that led me to this point.

I started off depressed and angry, lost in life, knowing what I needed to do, but feeling like it wasn't something I could do. And when I finally accepted that I could do it, years went in to it. A quick photo makes it look like a magical transformation, but there was close to 10 years between those photos, and a lot of self discovery, self exploration and pain. As well as joy, and surprises.
