Defining "taken something behind a paywall and thus denied them revenue" as theft is the exact same argument movie studios make when you pirate a movie. Theft implies that the original is gone. If I steal your car, you don't have a car. If I pirate a movie, we both have that movie. As someone who supports piracy, I would be careful to conflate piracy with theft. I think that's the entire point the post is making.

Fuck AI slop. There's enough other arguments against it. It destroys the environment and artists' livelihoods. We can point that out without supporting corporate copyright talking points.

There are missile defenses, but not nearly enough to counter China's, let alone Russia's, full arsenal. Superpowers want to have enough weapons to overwhelm their adversaries' missile defenses. The perverse calculation of MAD is that while both can destroy each other, no one attacks. But if one country thinks they can survive a retaliation, suddenly nuclear is on the table.

The only logical (if perverse) reaction to your adversary building missile defenses, is to build more missiles. This is a route to escalation. This has been extensively studied during the cold war, and is no less true now: https://www.amacad.org/bulletin/spring-2024/understanding-chinese-and-russian-views-on-us-missile-defense

And missile defenses are way, way more expensive and technologically burdensome than missiles. So no, I don't think that Russia nor China have large scale defenses, for now.

locking oneself to a table with a zip tie sounds like a good idea. That'd give another few minutes, until they figure out what's happening

Antisemitism definitely isn't. Getting called antisemitic by Israel, on the other hand? Certainly.

For a nuclear armed country, a robust missile defense system is a first strike enabling weapon. It means you can first strike a peer adversary without fearing MAD. This is a dangerous development.

Yeah, GB and Gb are clearly defined. But the flyer says "gig"

That was last year, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did it again

Stop calling everyone a "skeptic" and call them what they are: deniers. Anti-science, fact resistant deniers. Calling people germ-theory skeptics, or climate skeptics, or vaccine skeptics, and so on and so on, makes it sound like there's an honest scientific debate going on

...to get a working config, you need to learn a whole new programming language and figure out the tweaks for each package you want to install, so I'd argue the journey is just as long
