As a foss project maintainer i think a lot of people underestimate how few people are willing to take over and maintain a project.

Furthermore I think a lot of people underestimate the time and effort it takes to maintain a project.

We see foss projects dying all the time, despite the code being available!

I go eat at McDonald's a lot and almost every time I can hear the staff call out an order number which is ready, but nobody comes to pick it up.

Why would you pay for food only to run off then?

I'm in Germany, in case that's relevant.

I dont often see stickers on cars but when I do, one of them is the apple logo. What is it for?

It may not be the best approach but i usually just open a PR or create an issue and offer a PR.

They usually let me know if it's lacking or my approach is wrong.

There's no shame in not knowing something.
