Shopping around for a good quote on a window replacement

Started on one computer mouse needing a new AA battery. Then re-glued the foot pad that had fallen off and was making it rock. While vigorously testing the other foot pads, they came off, and so I ended up re-gluing them all.

Then went one to another mouse and started to clean some dust in the corners of it. Turned out the dust was enough that I had an excuse to take it apart. Then there was enough random tiny fibers/hairs that I couldn't get off that I went to use the air compressor to really get it clean. And re-glued the feet pads here, because, why not.

With as much as I take apart my computer mice, it causes the factory sticky tape to fail. So I actually cut out an access whole where the foot pad covers the hidden screws. And then I can use gel super glue to keep the foot pads down fully without curling.

It hasn't run since the '90s. I inherited it from my grandfather, but never took the time to get it running again. Fingers crossed that all it needed was a little TLC.

The moon was the faintest sliver too. Took the wife outside to see it too, but it was a little chilly for her taste to stay out for too long. Pretty neat.

super tight fit and I had to shear off a tiny tab on the wiper blade to complete the install, however its all good and solid.

wife gave me the "damn, you're useful" smile. good times.

Took roughly three hours because meanwhile I was doing other chores and only passed by the laptop roughly every 15 minutes to enable successive stages of the updates. It passed three complete versions of the OS until it finally installed the current version.

Everything went well, the machine is running smoothly and up to date now.

...but I'd really just prefer underpants and socks or a nice fitting shirt.

Just nudging middle age and really want to clear the desk at this point.

I don’t remember the last time all three components ran out at the same time

It was a chicken sandwich with cheddar.

..but I forgot to take out the reusable metal holders for yellow stickers against fungus gnats that were still stuck in the soil, so I just went out to the dumpster to retrieve them. They were still there.

It's not the first iteration and probably wont be the last either but now atleast they're all in one place.

My work gifted me a plastic coffee mug, which I've been using on and off for my tea. The lid cracked yesterday and it sputtered nice warm tea on my shirt.

Replaced it with a thermos. Stainless steel, keeps the tea hot and my hands cool. It's a bit pricey, but I think it'll last a while.

Finally got around to replacing the battery in my Razer Nari headset, after years of it only lasting <1 hour on battery power. Couldn't get the soldering with my old iron after over an hour of fucking with it, got frustrated and went to home depot at 8:30 at night to get an iron that isn't older than I am and one of those little clip holder things. Took less than 10 minutes to put the last 2 wires on with a functional tool. Got a new multimeter too. Forgot to take pictures of the completed job though, my bad.

It's turning off during charging occasionally which i think means the first 2 connections might be fucked up, so i might go back and fix those and install the USB-C port I bought for it this weekend.

An addict in my sleep. (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Still smoking regularly in my dreams. I quit 4 years ago and haven't turned back.. But it still seems an indelible trait my mind hasn't let go of yet.

It's not the main focus of the dream, just a noticeable part of my 'normal' self while dreaming.

I just took a Benadryl (lemmy.sdf.org)

It helps me breathe, which also helps me sleep. But also it makes me drowsy, which also helps me sleep.

My girlfriend bought a cafe and they had a cast iron waffle iron that had, in some places, 5mm of grime built up over 2 years, never once been cleaned. Even the hinges were full of old crusted on batter and grease.

I spent hours with a grill scraper scraping every individual pin.

I have gotten to or past the seasoning in many places except in between all of the pins is hell to try to scrape the old baked on grease away. I have tried sodium carbonate soaks, a wire brush and a wire brush on a drill, a few different scraping tools, and I have only gotten about half out of those grooves. Miles better than before, but still not perfect enough to season and put back in the cafe.

Finally had a free day not occupied by other chores, so I built another wall in the basement. That brings me to about 50% of the way through a finished basement.

Maybe this is too nerdy for this group. I got an OpenWRT ONE router, replaced the old TP-Link one I had. The bad press got to me. The new one is fast, I could not believe how much faster things like downloading files is now.

The worst part was that I had picked out a complicated password with lots of punctuation, and typing that on phones and on-screen keyboards for TVs and game consoles was painful.

Also I pinged Google, and got an IPv6 response for the first time.

When you move to a new property, you'll have the right-sized cover and box to store them in for protection. I have a closet nearly full of them.

Keep the smaller ones too, for that matter.

My handkerchief supply has dwindled over the years. Time to re-up.
