They also accept pulling the power cord out as "oh no" and shutdown for you!

I didn't know it was native too!

True, but my joke wasn't meant to be scientifically accurate at all. We have a genie here. They don't care about science. Apart from monkey paw science

0 is the freezing point of water 50 is the boiling point.

If it's 30°c outside, it will be only be 15 after the wish, thus fit what the character said

I'd actually recommend consent-o-matic instead of IDCAC. It actually selects the minimum concent for you instead of just hiding it.

Librewolf, but I'd argue it's more of a Firefox/web debloater reason. No pocket, no VPN ads. I would have said that the only issue is that it is a pain to update, but they added a windows updater and software repos, so I would almost recommend it over stock firefox for normies.

And I use tor to search stuff that contains sensitive data like my location... Or when a website is blocked

Is there any way to speed up the task switcher pop in animation? I find it way too slow. Ideally I'd like it to be as fast as the one on cinnamon as I switched for it to KDE

I got an home server that is running docker for all my self hosted apps. But sometimes I accidentally trigger Earlyoom by remotely starting expensive docker builds, which kill docker.

I don't have access to my server outside of my home network, so I can't manually restart docker in those situations.

What would be the best way to restart it automatically? I don't mind doing a full system restart if needed

To whoever does that, I hope that there is a special place in hell where they force you to do type safe API bindings for a JSON API, and every time you use the wrong type for a value, they cave your skull in.

Sincerely, a frustrated Rust dev

If only they made the hole square....

Yes. It is bloated. But not for the reasons you may think.

Live OSes need to fit multiple requirements compared to the installed ones. They need to:

  • Install the OS without internet
  • Provide a test ground for the OS
  • Be a way to repair damaged OS

So of course it's bloated, but in a good way. You may be already familiar with Ubuntu, and not care about the live OS part, so it would be bloat for you. You may not care about setting up disks, so GParted is bloat for you, etc...

If you want a less bloated installer, some other distros like debian give net installers

I am looking for an alternative to Easy Effects for windows. It works really well on my Linux machine, but I want something for my work machine that runs windows.

Any suggestions? I don't need all the filters, but at least something to correct the awful bass

*bad Devs

Always look on the official repository. Not just to see if it exists, but also to make sure it isn't a fake/malicious one

I won't lie, but content like this is what I love on programmerhumor.

Also just use the (inferior) open source version of GUMBIES called GRUMBOSS. It's way better!
