It seems like his concern is something he doesn't want to be clear about.
Picture looks adversarial af. Caption: They're all friends.
Yeah, okay.
Blockchain is effectively a distributed database. Almost always a good centralized database functions better.
Needing everything to be a class
In 2015 they added scripting. If you're making a real project, you should absolutely use classes. (It's not that hard. Don't do the Java shit.) But you can absolutely write one off scripts just fine.
AOT support is still lacking.
Publishing your app as Native AOT produces an app that's self-contained and that has been ahead-of-time (AOT) compiled to native code. Source.
C# is nearly the same, but much, much better.
- It doesn't (usually) come with the Java culture 8 layers of abstraction. This isn't in the Java language. This isn't in OO. Yet nearly every Java programmer makes things way more complicated than it needs to be.
- It's a prettier language. Similar syntax with less bullshit.
- It's open source
- It's still multiplatform. Modern dotnet / C# works on anything.
- Both Visual Studio and Visual Studio code are great IDEs that blow Eclipse out of the water
- It's one of the most common business languages.
- It's going to be supported forever.
If I could restrict the world of programming to two languages, it'd be C# and Rust. C# for most things and Rust for a lower level language.
Also it wasn't a "unity gesture". It was a funny moment for the people in the room and/or was intended to make the Trump convert more comfortable.
Either way, it was absolutely fine in context. The only concern is how it could be taken out of context, and fuck that. I'm tired of walking a tightrope worrying about what Fox News might say.
If it was a "unity gesture", it was for that one guy. It wasn't for the Fox News audience.
Make America Boring Again
You think we're gonna fight corporations as individuals if we strangle government?
No. Government is our protection from those who would want to consolidate power, especially corporations. I understand that the government often fails at that protection, but it's still a hell of a lot better than being completely defenseless.
The whole point of the founding fathers was to spread power and attempt to keep it spread. They wanted to avoid both the abuses of monarchy and the eventual decapitation of leadership (seeing as how that'd be their heads).
It's possible it was stress from the litigation. In fact, if you don't specify whose stress, I'd almost guarantee it.
Google Chrome and "Enhanced Ad Privacy".
Because changing the engine in an existing project is a huge pita that requires many, many hours and possibly in some cases a full rewrite.
This also applies to games that would be released in 2023 or 2024.
Nobody should be considering Unity for a new project, but it's understandable to make either decision for many existing projects.
Ripping out the engine of your game isn't a trivial thing.
I'm sure a certain narrative will be curated here.
