Canada’s about to elect our own right wing version of Trump. So if you’re looking to escape that by moving here… don’t be too optimistic.

BC almost went conservative provincially in the last election. Alberta and Saskatchewan are batshit insane conservative. Manitoba used to be but they’ve gone centre left. Ontario conservative corporate. Quebec… I’m not going to touch that one. And then the east which I don’t have a ton of feedback on personally.

“Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi party, not because they hated Jews, but out of a hope for restored patriotism, or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values, or dislike of their opponents, or raw political opportunism, or convenience, or ignorance, or greed.

That word is “Nazi.” Nobody cares about their motives any more.

They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval. And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after. Who cares any more what particular knot they used in the binding?”

My city has a local company that rents storage units and they have entirely too many locations relative to the population of our city such that I believe they’re a criminal enterprise. I believe they construct so many new buildings for money laundering purposes and to facilitate human trafficking and drug running out of them.

Breaking news, I just googled them and one of the owners was convicted in his 20s of trying to sell poached falcons to Saudi Arabian royalty. The plot thickens.

This case is heartbreaking.

He confessed! Shame on those lawyers for this trash narrative.

No adult would blow up their whole life at the age of 71 if this was consensual.

Mme. Pelicot is a hero to women.

Good for the woman who was attacked to maintain composure. That must have been really hard. From the article:

Spring said she understood it was critical that she remained composed even while being attacked.

"I wanted to make sure I acted appropriately so that I could keep my job because the script could have been flipped at any time if I had retaliated," Spring said

It’s so heartbreaking that the bolded part is systemic racism. Like she can’t defend herself because that terrible white woman would have pretended to be the victim? Fuck all of that and fuck that white girl.

I wish they would stop this:

ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders affecting children and young adults, with about 10% of young people between the ages of 3 and 17 diagnosed with the condition.

What about women and inattentives who are usually diagnosed way into adulthood???

This makes it sound curable, temporary or like it only impacts young people.

Notice how Trump dilutes and distorts the meaning of words on purpose so they don’t hit as hard when used toward him. I find it terrifying that he’s openly calling everyone a fascist. He’s being honest about his true intentions, America.

When someone tells you who they are, believe them!!!

You’re missing that the special counsel saying this was extremely editorialized, unprofessional, and dubious at best. This is the counsel’s opinion without facts to back it up.

Whereas Trump falling asleep actually happened without editorializing. NYT is just reporting facts.

It’s a lot of processed bread / carb products and very little protein.

Jon Stewart is such a pro. He’s at the top of his game, even still. He’s just so far above other political commentators it’s beautiful to watch.

And if Colbert makes an appearance this season I will scream like Flanders at those purple drapes.

People just don’t want to spend what little time we have on this earth commuting, paying $10 for a shitty Subway sandwich for lunch, and listening to Elderly Manager Brian talk about his glory days to a captive audience.

Hi - don't judge. This is my first mechanical keyboard and I'm playing around with something in budget that meets my needs as a beginner. I know it's not the best but I'm genuinely looking for help and knowledge here.

Yes, I know the allegations about the software/drivers for this keyboard being flagged as malware and have done research into this, though apparently not enough research. I downloaded what I thought was the driver for this keyboard but did not realize that it was a Via driver that broke the battery indicator and any possible connection to the (apparently terrible) software.

Would anyone have access to the original driver so I can roll the keyboard back to factory settings? The factory setting reset (function + esc 3 sec) doesn't roll back these changes. I tried to download one on Weiyun based on advice from the other site but everything is in Chinese and it does not seem to work.

Alternatively, does anyone know who I might contact to obtain this driver? I contacted the seller on AliExpress but they are spotty at best.

Many thanks in advance.

Elections don’t work for Republicans, because we’re the first generation to be royally fucked and we’re pissed off. Boomers would be pissed too if they were on the bottom of the capitalism pyramid scheme.

I’m pretty close with this person outside of work and we used to have good non-work conversations but now I feel all I get is stories and photos of her children. We work in a tight knit team so I can’t really avoid them.

I got no less than 3 updates this weekend about a sports event with her kids including photos; more photos and another update about said event this morning; another photo of another child; updates about what her toddler was doing, and updates about how her kid made the track and field team and she absolutely needs to take time off work to go.

I don’t ask for this and I don’t really respond when she does it. I prefer to talk about other things. We used to talk about other things and now it’s kids 99% of the time to the point where it feels really one-sided. I tried to talk about a concert I went to this weekend and got really lukewarm reception.

I’m thinking I need to tone it down and say goodbye to the relationship/chit chat for a while? I feel if I tell her bluntly I’m tired of hearing about her children it will hurt her feelings. Any ideas?
