PTSD sucks. I have my ear plugs in, trying to ride out the explosions outside. Anyone else in a similar situation, maybe neurodivergent?

I live in an area where people ask you where you're from and if you actually live in the neighborhood. They may assume you don't speak English, like they have with my wife.

ICE has already gone through the town nextdoor, and I'm waiting for our turn. I'm light-skinned, but my wife and kids are dark with Mayan features. I fear that all anyone has to do to terrorize my family is call a hotline. We have all our citizenship documentation, but that doesn't matter anymore.

I keep waiting for the day when I'm going to have to defend my family, but I might not even be around when things take place. What if they come take my wife while she's at work? What if she goes shopping and never comes back?

I have nothing without my family. I have nothing.

I hear these comments for not wanting to help people, and it feels like we're worshipping individuality to the detriment of community, which is necessary for survival.

• "I don't want my money going to ___ ."
• "This is not a democracy, it's a constitutional republic!"
• "You don't have any freedoms under socialism/communism."
• "They're just looking for a handout because they're lazy."
• "I'm a self-made man. I didn't need anyone's help."
• "Empathy is not a virtue."
• "I don't see how that's my problem."

Is that even possible?

What is that thing? Why is that thing? It looks like the vehicles from Aliens. On the windshield, there's a decal that reads "Apocalypse 6x6."

Cargo pants? Naw, man. Car go beep beep. You feeling alright?

I think the power imbalances in society in some way stem from a desire to fill a void of self worth. Complete people connect: empty people consume and consolidate power. Billionaires and dictators can never have enough because they can never be enough.
