30 years ago I’m sure there was the equivalent of people who exclusively worked in assembly who thought the same about C programmers

Isn't it exactly the point Linus was making about Rust?

Bringing 2 languages into the kernel does create a divide that can come with a maintenance burden

There are already 2 languages in the kernel: C and Assembly(for example).

should be properly addressed and argued with pros/cons

That already happened and Linus decided to accept Rust code into the kernel.

don’t bring new languages into the kernel

Didn't the guy who decides on bringing new languages to the kernel(that's not Christoph Hellwig) specifically said "do bring Rust to the kernel"? And bringing it to the drivers not core subsystems is exactly because C developers won't need to maintain it?

He doesn't care about their political system. What he cares about is that they are Kurds. Kurds did some terrorism in Turkey. Some Kurds want to separate from Turkey. Both things are a serious problem. Also, Syrian oil fields those particular Kurds control. Yeah, it's actually probably mostly about oil.

Well it's obvious that the registrar is to blame. Anyone can send emails requesting the takedown. The registrar shouldn't do it. Are Funko and Brandshield scummy? Yes, but they are not who took down itch, it was the registrar. Also Funko calling anyone's mother is fucked up.

And it changed the Internet, for good and a lot.

So there were five godlike beings sent to fight Sauron. Only one of them did his job.

I need to reword it.

You are the big cool powerful god. One of your servants, a minor much less powerful god does bad things to the world. So you send five your other servants just as powerful as the bad one to deal with him.

A lot of time passes. Three of those spend their time chilling. One joins the bad one. The last one turns out too weak. Who solves the problem? Four hobbits.

You really should reconsider your politics after that.

I don't think the original books ever told anything about it.

If the numbers are true it costed him less than 0.1% of his wealth which is surprising how little it takes. Would you spend 0.1% of your wealth to elect a President and gain a government post that will bring you more wealth? Would you spend 1% of your wealth to become insanely rich? 10%?

In the society where power is measured by wealth ultra rich should not exist. Or better such society should not exist.

Also Musk wasn't even the biggest donor. And Harris was okay with this whole thing, she also received enormous donations. Who was against ultra rich? Bernie Sanders. No wonder he was sacked despite popular support.

That's why it's a big disturbing banner where most gamers don't understand the text but know that big disturbing banner is bad. Will it affect the sales? Not at all. But it will raise the problem(mostly Linux anticheat) to the higher standing people in the gaming companies than before because now they require those top level managers to make a decision is it big disturbing banner or Linux anticheat.

What would the answer otherwise be? "fuck your save, start over"?

Isn't it the usual answer? If there's any at all.

That's a small step towards enshittification

Going away from opensource model that you built your business over is a pretty big step.
