Ah hell, that's how I first read it then I second guessed myself on the irony later!

Whether there is another cause that is common to both events is irrelevant to the example. The example is to demonstrate the fact that while A and B are correlated, neither A causes B nor B causes A are true predicates. Just like the discovery of Pluto and autism diagnosis are correlated to start around the same year, there's no evidence of the casual link where discovering Pluto causes autism diagnosis or autism diagnosis causes Pluto discovery.

Something doesn't have to exist forever to have meaning, that seems like a holdover from utopic afterlife religious indoctrination.

We can enjoy a movie or a lunch knowing it will end, I can pursue meaning and find multiple purposes throughout a lifetime.

No, the opposite; it's a classic example showing that correlation doesn't necessitate causation. I was just playing with the phrasing to imply the humorous inverse that there is a casual link.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion get in the way of their nepotism and cronyism hiring. If they were hiring based on merit alone there would be no problem being transparent and publishing their hiring decisions.

"In these times of darkness and hopelessness, we wish to share a strong message of solidarity and recognition to those Palestinian journalists who are covering this crisis in such dramatic circumstances. As humanity, we have a huge debt to their courage and commitment to freedom of expression," said Mauricio Weibel, Chair of the International Jury of Media Professionals.

Just trying to live with as little advertising as possible and curious what tips or tricks the community has aside from moving out to a cabin in the woods.

I can't really get away from road side advertising for now. Public sporting events are completely infected, and for the ads I am forced to see I try to make a conscious effort not to buy their goods or services. I won't subscribe to a streaming service if they have a sub+ad tier, if they're separate free with ads or sub no ads I'll support it.

Not really for any moral stance, but ad blockers are good at avoiding malware and some services are basically broken if you have to wait for an ad network, and I just feel mentally healthier in general without the extra propaganda.
