Hello people, just switched to Alpine and it would be great if some of the Apine users could share some dotfiles that are running Wayland compositors. I have not figured out to make swayidle work and some other stuff. By the way I am running River but this happened aswell on a fresh install with the Sway option of setup-desktop script.

I get some errors of unknown session with swayidle and conky, but I have set the corresponding environment variables and launching with dbus-run-session -- river

River init file:

export XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP=river
export XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=river
dbus-update-activation-environment WAYLAND_DISPLAY XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=river

Shell env file:

export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR="$(mkrundir)"
export XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland
export QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland
export SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland
export GDK_BACKEND=wayland
export MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
export _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING=1

If you encountered some quirks of your own please let me know. Thanks in advance!

I feel like people need to to wake up, just today I saw a 2-3 year old with a mobile phone scrolling what it seemed like TikTok, not to mention all the grown adults doing the same.

Regular people do not seem to know, care or believe how modern tech practices are destroying our lives, countless times I've been given the looks when commenting the topic, even when themselves admit how they hate how creepy and weird is that Instagram hears eveything they say and display and ad of their private conversation.

I think that first it has to get much worse for people living inside this bubble for other countries to start addopting european laws on digital rights and so on.

  • Strategy favorite: Chess
  • Strategy least favorite: Tic Tac Toe
  • Chance favorite: Russian Roulette - On the upside you will never lose more tham once.
  • Chance least favorite: Bingo -So fn dull..

Honorable "not pure strategy or chance"

  • Monopoly: This game was designed to teach people that once a player gets an advantage there is no coming back and there is nothing to do, and people still play it for fun.
  • Mario Party: You either love it or hate it.

Technically, pure chance games are not games and I'm to lazy to cite this.

Users with one downvote on every recent comment/post is usually some other user raging and being incapable of accepting other people's opinions.

  • disable auto-rotate
  • enable dark mode
  • increase keyboard repeat rate
  • decrease keyboard repeat delay time
  • increase mouse/trackpad sensitivity
  • decrease idle to suspend time

The list is huge but those are the main things I do not need to install anything to change. They are important to me because I hate slow navigation.

I know that there are some web browser extensions like Markdown Here, but do you guys know of clients that do the same natively?

I'll take any FOSS clear and cold ass shower over proprietary warm and muddy shower.

  • People get lost in navigation menus (web or otherwise) and relaunching the browser or app.
  • People who use Caps Lock for one letter(psychos).
  • People who know refuse to use virtual desktops/workspaces/tags when they have more than 5 windows open.
  • People who refuse to learn common keybind shortcuts like open, cut, paste, close window, open tab and print. This one triggers me when I use a shortcut to help someone and they say I'm in the wrong menu....

I have tried almost all clients on Android.

Best In my opinion:

  1. Thunder
  2. Jerboa
  3. Raccoon for Lemmy
  4. Voyager

To me thunder has the best UI and UX overall, even though I prefer the "card view" feed from Raccoon and some functions of Jerboa.

Just thinking about the little things we enjoy that is other people's way of earning, for example fishing.

I know it in the spec stylesheets but why was this made like this?

EDIT:

If anyone is wondering what I am talking about read more from the spec stylesheets

After May 2025 this styling is removed.

To fix this follow Moziilla's web docs. It shows how to consistently size headings for old browsers.
