A dark seed has been planted

"Dark Seed", a 90's point-and-click horror game from the mind of H.R. Giger, is now ready for public testing!

In the game you play the role of Mike Dawson, who just moved to a beautiful solitary mansion to pursue his dream of becoming a writer. You'll soon realise that the place harbors dark secrets, and you'll have just three days to escape a fate worse than death...

The DOS Floppy and CD versions are supported. The engine also supports a number of localised versions Spanish, French, German, Korean and Chinese.

The floppy version currently lacks sound effects but all other features from the original game should be present.

The engine also has the option of using the "arguably" better floppy music with the CD version if you have both.

To participate in the testing, ensure you have a daily development build. As always, please submit the bug reports to our issue tracker.

I noticed if I change the Original Publication Date on my videos it affects their position in the Recently Added list

https://spectra.video/videos/browse?scope=local&live=false&c=true&s=3

I feel like it should only affect the sort by "Original Publication Date" which is a separate feature

Android 16 is adding support for pinned notifications that show live info from apps.

TL;DR

  • Android 16 introduces Live Updates, a new class of notifications for ongoing activities.
  • Live Updates are prominently displayed on the lock screen as well as on the status bar.
  • These notifications are intended for rideshare pickups, food delivery alerts, navigation, and other use cases.

If this doesn’t sound like anything new to you, I don’t blame you. After all, rideshare apps like Uber have already been showing notifications like this for years now. Uber had to do a lot of custom stuff to make its notifications look like that on Android, though. Google has basically created a standardized version of what Uber’s been doing. With the new progress-centric notifications in Android 16, any app can create notifications like Uber.

Doesn't seem like it uses ActivityPub, still interesting, and open source

In Nextcloud, user’s Federated Cloud ID works similar to an email address or a Mastodon handle, allowing them to exchange data across servers: share files and and collaborate on documents, communicate in group chats and make audio and video calls.

Federated tools available in Nextcloud:

  • Federated file sharing
    • Share documents and media to users in other Nextcloud Hub instances for viewing, editing and collaboration.
  • Federated chatting
    • Create group chats with users from different servers and use many essential chat tools.
  • Federated calls
    • Make audio and video calls with Nextcloud Talk among users from different servers.

omg the top comment just got deleted with over 500 upvotes

I think it was when it was edited to include specific links to Lemmy instances, instead of the join-lemmy.org website

I still see the comment on Spaduf's profile, but it shows as deleted in the post

I think maybe the link to lemmy.world is what triggered their filter? because that was edited in

I just don't think bash is good for maintaining the code, debugging, growing the code over time, adding automated tests, or exception handling

When my Lemmy instance is down (which is very rare, much more stable than Reddit), I just browse via a different instance!

This means game devs will start focusing more on better performance and optimization, right? ...RIGHT?

So is this what they call "cyber bullying"?

I think it's just a comparison because during the Reddit Exodus people often suggested Discuit instead of Lemmy because ActivityPub is "too complicated". So I guess this is a good demonstration that federation really is our best hope at replacing the big billionaire social media platforms.

As another point of reference vs Discuit's 6,787 registered users, Lemmy has 1,904,195 registered users. Kbin has 66,175, and Mbin has 5,453 registered users.

They just needed to offer lots of storage so they could kill off Dropbox, now that it's mostly dead for consumers, it's time for Google to make money with their monopoly. Even though storage prices have gone way down.
