The usage of temperature to describe space really throws off laypeople that aren’t used to temperature in a scientific context. Temperature is an average measure of the particles in a system. Since there aren’t many particles, space is “cold”. But it’s not. It’s not cold. If you took off a spacesuit in space and “survived” you would overheat from absorbing heat from the sun OR from your body overheating since you wouldn’t be able to shed the heat. You wouldn’t freeze. There’s hardly any particles to transfer energy between bodies.

In this case, either the particles are traveling faster than in our solar system, or there’s more of them. Even if there’s more of them, there’s still not many, it’s a vacuum. So the “temperature” just reflects the average of the particles.

It’s like being in a bowling alley. The “temperature” is the speed and collisions of the balls. But the people there aren’t ever going to be hit by a ball. So if you bring stronger people to the bowling alley and they throw the balls much harder you can “raise the temperature” without affecting a single person.

It handles memory just fine. I’ve run them all alongside each other for weeks with no issues (with a completely full hard drive from images). I rarely close programs or turn my computer off. Yes, an MBP is a great computer and well worth it, but they’re no where near as light and portable. If you’re doing image editing on the go then the air is a fantastic option.

Rule of cool supersedes making sense. Yeah there’s a ton of nonsense, but you called it yourself, it’s fun. That’s all that matters.

Beyoncé claimed to be “bringing back black country” when black country never went anywhere. It’s incredibly insulting to all of the other actual black country singers and artists. Also her album is just bad. Like literally terrible terrible music. It’s clearly just a cash grab.

Lemmy isn’t social media. Ignoring that though, the law actually says:

According to the Texas Office of the Attorney General, this new law will primarily “apply to digital services that provide an online platform for social interaction between users that: (1) allow users to create a public or semi-public profile to use the service, and (2) allow users to create or post content that can be viewed by other users of the service. This includes digital services such as message boards, chat rooms, video channels, or a main feed that presents users content created and posted by other users.”

Which literally applies to every single site on the entire planet that has a comment section. This law is incredibly unenforceable.

This happens in every major mastodon thread. Someone claims something without even bothering to research it like the person below did. They make an incredibly big deal about it with tons of claims (which are almost all untrue) and then it gains traction and anyone who doesn’t bother to research now believes something completely untrue.

Dogs have a much shorter digestive tract. So things that have been sitting out and have parasites in them have a much smaller chance of making a dog sick than they do humans. This is why dogs can eat most raw meats without getting sick, while humans need special preparation for raw meats to make sure parasites aren’t in them.

Man people really set up the strawmen here. Congress has literally said it’s about foreign influence, not about protecting children. It has absolutely nothing to do with kids. It has to do with China influencing the citizens of the United States to do things that are beneficial to China, against the interests of the US government.

It’s not a ban, if China gives up control of the app to a United States entity then there’s no problem. It has absolutely nothing to do with protecting children.
