Several people pointed out that our rules for behavior weren't immediately apparent. While I would say this shouldn't be an issue in a community about posting new communities, I have been proven wrong on multiple occasions. So I have made the list in our sidebar. These are a paraphrasing of Mastodon.World's rules. So there is no functional change. We will continue to use their rules as a master list. But they boil down to being civil. If you don't like something or someone and have no constructive criticism, then you just move on.

I'm going to put changes here as well so people on apps can see them easier.

The rules for behavior are a straight carry over of Mastodon.World’s rules. You can click the link but we’ve reposted them here in brief, as a guideline. We will continue to use the Mastodon.World rules as the master list. Over all, be nice to each other and remember this isn’t a community built around debate. For the rules about formatting your posts, scroll down to number 2.

  1. Follow the rules of Mastodon.world, which can be found here.(link)

A. Provide an inclusive and supportive environment. This means if it isn’t rule breaking and we can’t be supportive to them then we probably shouldn’t engage.

B. No illegal content.

C. Use content warnings where appropriate. This means mark your submissions NSFW if need be.

D. No uncivil behavior. This includes, but is not limited to: Name Calling; Bullying; Trolling; Disruptive Commenting; or Personal Criticisms.

E. No Harrassment. As an example in relation to Transgender people this includes, deadnaming, misgendering, and promotion of conversion therapy. Similarly Misogyny, Misandry, and Racism are also banned here.

I got tired of there not being a place to geek out over one of the best FPS games I've played in ages, so I decided to be the change I wish to yada yada, so I made one.

The Finals is a free, competitive FPS game made by Embark Studios - a dev team formed by a bunch of old developers from the Battlefield series. All classes, weapons, abilities, and game modes are completely free and can only be unlocked through game progression; the only things you can spend money on are cosmetics, though the game also gives you a ton of free cosmetic items through various events, account progression, and the free season pass tier. It's available on Steam, GeForce Now, Xbox S|X, PS5, and will be available on PS4 later this year.

It's a super fun, super flashy, and super addicting game. If you haven't already tried it: give it a shot, it's free! So it'll cost you nothing but your time. Heck, if you have a GFN account, you don't even have to download anything, you can literally be playing right now. And if you like it, come hang out and share some clips! I'll be trying to populate the community with content as I can. I'm not being paid to glaze the game like this, I just really enjoy it and want to share it with everyone.

I recently made a post on CommunityPromo, promoting my other three communities. Someone suggested that creating one unified community for discussing all the soulslikes there are might be a better fit for Lemmy given its relatively small community. So I did just that!

!soulslike@lemmy.zip

Be sure to check it out if you're interested in any of the FromSoft games (DS1-3, Demon's Souls, Bloodborne etc.), Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Nioh, Lies of P - what have you! The term soulslike is treated rather loosely here in the sense that games that incorporate mechanics from soulslikes may be discussed here too. The more the merrier :)

I'll try to populate the community with posts in the coming days as to provide some content. Feel free to pop by and post something.

News, memes, discussion, art - all forms of content are welcome.

Cheers!

Hi everyone! I recently migrated the MealtimeVideos community from Lemmy.world to our new home at Lemmy.cafe. There's a longer post as to why here, but one of the big benefits was the ability for the Beehaw community to join in and participate, as they are defederated from lemmy.world.

If you're familiar with the old MealtimeVideos from reddit, it's quite similar to that. But for those unfamiliar, the main draw of the community is that it collects high-quality vidoes, oftentimes edutainment, and provides the duration of the video in the title, so you can select one that will slot in with your breakfast, lunch, or any other meal!

Of course, you don't have to be eating to enjoy the videos, but meal watchers are the main demographic, I suspect.

If that sounds like something that'd interest you, then be sure to check it out and maybe even subscribe over at:

I am interested in a community of people of faith who are at the same time on the political left, particularly anarchism, and lgbtq+ inclusion, particularly transgender. I am kinda sick and tired of atheists harassing everyone religious. I don't care much about the philosophy surrounding it, it is just that their collective behavior is arguably harassment, not a bit different to typical transphobic harassment about delusions etc. I believe that freedom of religious belief is a very basic right for people of all convictions. At the moment there is a huge divide: religious lgbtq+ people who are also anarchist (and might have been ostracized by their religious community on top of everything else) have no place to go without facing atheist harassment, and this is how there is no place to discuss faith together with politics and identity. So, here goes, I want to start this discussion with people who would like to see sth like this happening.

TLDR I've been thinking about moving my music posting to my own instance for a long time and decided to finally do it.

GG is spiritually/functionally the same as SJ was but now I don't have account hop to make sure things like reports are being seen reliably.

If you were part of the old community you are welcome to continue posting on the new one. If you've never heard of either place you're invited to check out Garden Grooves and share whatever music you enjoy. If you hate potentially seeing a bunch of music links maybe blocking the community is more your thing.

Whatever you do, enjoy it!

A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

Rules

The rules for behavior are a straight carry over of Mastodon.World's rules. You can click the link but we've reposted them here in brief, as a guideline. We will continue to use the Mastodon.World rules as the master list. Over all, be nice to each other and remember this isn't a community built around debate. For the rules about formatting your posts, scroll down to number 2.

1. Follow the rules of Mastodon.world, which can be found here.

A. Provide an inclusive and supportive environment. This means if it isn't rulebreaking and we can't be supportive to them then we probably shouldn't engage.

2. Include a community title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.

Formatting

Please include this following format in your post:

[link text](/c/community@instance.com)

This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't

You should also include either:

!community@instance.com

or instance.com/c/community

FAQ:

Q: Why do I get a 404?

A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.

Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?

A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.
