One day I was thinking of Andy Warhol's film "Empire", which is basically one continuous 8 hour shot of the Empire State Building.

I thought it'd be cool to make a similar art film about your average programmer's work day. 8 hour shot of a programmer staring at the screen intensely, drinking coffee, scrolling through the code, and occasionally muttering "why the fuck doesn't this work?"

From video by Drago on a mobile app Simply Draw. Which tries to lure children in by promising to teach them how to draw! But then you get hit by the paywall.

We shouldn't inspire children to follow their artistic dreams, and then hit them with the paywall. Or the mobile app economy as a whole. Not all adults are ready for the mobile app economy, why do we think children are ready for that? It's cruel. It's harsh.

I followed along with the tutorial, it's not a bad way to learn how to draw a fish. I'm depressed and I'm depressed because of fish thing so... I dunno if this helped me, it was a thing, I dunno.

Just do your best plumber / car mechanic impression. "Gee, this codebase is really messed up, looks like I need to basically replace everything."

("That can't be true, that's what every other programmer I showed this to said. Are you all lying?" "No, we're not lying, this really is a screwed up codebase.")

Original definition: using AI to create a small bespoke kinda-crap-but-it-works apps or games for personal use. It's a shitty proto but it's interesting.

(My reaction: ooo not my jam but that sounds neat I guess)

Modern definition: it's a multi-quadrispillion dollar industry and it's the future according to some very important board members.

(My reaction: ...capitalism ruins fucking everything)

Sorry if this triggers some unfavourable English-as-Second-Language memories!

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as wheel, is in fact, GNU/Wheel, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus wheel.

Legends say that if you put your source code file in Grok, it'll print out the code and it'll land on Elon's desk.

Elon will browse through it and pretend to understand it, then tweet out insults and emojis and says you're fired. Even though you were never employed by him anyway.

This is the official short film adaptation of the classic video game Papers Please.

...made in 2018 by a Russian team. Way before the whole Ukraine war thing, you understand. ...though I'd obviously love to hear where they are now.

...if you haven't played Sid Meier's Alpha Centari before, I have to say this does frequently lead to conflicts later on.

Of course this gets a lot more grim when you realise the grass had to be sliced to put under the microscope.

So they sliced a smiling organism and captured the expression at the moment of death.

I know I'm supposed to be strong, but I'm shedding tears. 😢

The technology side of generative AI is fine. It's interesting and promising technology.

The business side sucks and the AI companies just the latest continuation of the tech grift. Trying to squeeze as much money from latest hyped tech, laws or social or environmental impact be damned.

We need legislation to catch up. We also need society to be able to catch up. We can't let the AI bros continue to foist more "helpful tools" on us, grab the money, and then just watch as it turns out to be damaging in unpredictable ways.

Ah yes, Klarna. The proof that not everything is all right with Sweden. Proof that Nordic countries, too, are capable of incredibly dark things. ...Do I need to continue?

Plus I cloned my Wii's NAND so I have all of the Virtual Console games and savegames, and I also dumped all of my GameCube memory cards and put everything to the Dolphin memory cards images.

Everything is cool and future-proof now!Highly recommend doing this if you have a working Wii - just install Homebrew Channel and CleanRip.

Notepad had one job. Operate on a damn text file. Operate on the damn text files I choose.

I knew it was going down the drain when I reopened Notepad and it opened the files that were previously open. No. Don't do that. That's overly helpful. You were only supposed to operate on the damn files I chose. These files I'm about to work with aren't necessarily the files I previously worked on. If I want this functionality I might as well open it in vscode.

I'm, like, screw it, might as well keep Emacs running if I need random temporary text editing.

I was, like, w-what CVE program. I don't know of any "CVE" programs that could be shut down, so I don't know what that abbreviation refers to.

Unless...

...oh no. Fuck. The actual CVE program? And they're just gonna- Shit.

What.

How.

I don't know how many times I've said "America is fucked" when reading the news lately, and I should stop doing that, because that fact has now been so well established that there's no need to elaborate.

No offence to folks who like Mario games, but I don't personally feel good playing them. They have a working class protagonist who works to maintain monarchic status quo (fighting evil kingdom to defend another kingdom). Also the games encourage violence toward turtles. Not cool in my books.

Anyway, jokes aside, I'm not getting a Switch 2 anytime soon, will probably get a Steam Deck before that.

Commodore 64 remix.
Original: Matt Gray.
I know what you are saying: This game is an Indiana Jones ripoff. Yes. Yes it is. And I wish there were more metal covers of Indy songs.

Ah, Julius Streicher. I barely had heard of him when I read about the Nuremberg trials. Dude was a propagandist. And they hanged him. He was literally edgelording until his last breath.

At first I was like "well, the other guys they hanged literally oversaw genocide, but this guy was a propagandist. Kinda harsh punishment for a propagandist. Wonder why?"

But now that I've watched the online hate pipeline run it's course for a while and do its thing, I kinda get it.

I'm advocating harsh bans for the birdsite royalty, and if they don't volunteer for that, maybe they should be put somewhere where they can be monitored to not propagandise. Not advocating for death penalty, it's categorically wrong.
