Honestly, I think the random arrests and deportations make for much more compelling entertainment. Imagine a, say, Spanish striker scoring a goal against the US with ICE agents immediately storming the field to deport him to El Salvador.
what if USA puts together a scrappy team of soccer players who are a little rough around the edges but have charm and unconventional moves based on skills transference from all-American sports like grid-iron, basketball & baseball. What if the team gets placed first round against the seasoned but arrogant Chinese team who show up to the American practice session to laugh at them and then say that if China wins USA has to drop all it's tariffs but if USA wins then China will give all the factories back.

Probably only a few tbh. Unless trump follows through on greenland and Canada I just don't see it. West had hate for Russia (and tbh Russia also had a reputation for serious racism in football) following crimea and they did no boycott on the world cup or winter olympics. And trump loves spectacle so he will probably slow down on some of the fuckery or hold em off until then.
Russia, Belarus, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico and probably some other latin american countries will 100% boycott the 2028 LA Olympics. Idk if China will boycott it but it's a possibility, which will probably lead to Trump screaming about how the US is getting all the gold medals when they win against San Marino and American Samoa.
I can see the games in the US being boycotted by some people, there will also be games held in Mexico and Canada.
