Canadians using Twitter/X are being bombarded by misleading right-wing posts designed to boost Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre and tarnish the reputation of Mark Carney.

The FT’s analysis finds a growing volume of that misinformation is coming not from Russia or China, but the United States.

Lets face it, if you are still on shitter you are either right-wing or extremely dumb

I don't think there is an "or" there.

[-] zhenbo_endle@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 days ago

IHMO it's not either-or. It's both-and

Sadly there are extremely dumb people that aren't conservative, its seriously impressive how they combine completely contradictory opinions

my partner is still on Xitter 😭 I've tried but failed to convince them to abandon that shithole site

Sorry comrade. I feel your pain.

I have a good friend who has been mildly but annoyingly radicalized by Twitter and Facebook. I told him that I don't click on any of the X or Instagram links he sends, and endured a tirade of nonsense, which I basically ignored. He tells me that "he learns things on Twitter that he wouldn't learn elsewhere". Yes, like Nazi propaganda! 😢

I’d include whoever works there. During the first year, ok, it’s time to find another job. Now, no, you’re just one of them.

I've got family that lives on an island. They've been holding onto twitter as the only way to get ferry updates.

I only recently found out, so have been switching the family (and slowly other islanders) to Nitter to follow that single account.

Twitter and facebook are the two main platforms used by russia to deploy their weaponized disinformation and both musk and zuck steadfastly refuse to act against it.

It's time we sanction twitter and meta as russian military contractors.

Even on YouTube I'm seeing a lot of conservative shit just popping up out of nowhere.

Has me hitting the subscriptions tab more often. Fuck your algo.

I was recommended far right Canadian content on Reddit

I just wanted to sports scores, not hear people complain about how bad education and health care in Ontario are and how we need a Far Right Federal government to fix it. And no you aren’t only a true Canadian if you vote Conservative, you aren’t Canadian at all

Lol .... the louder they shout, the more desperate they sound

I take it as a good sign, the more they try to grasp at straws to sway people, the more they are losing any hope of popularity.

It's really telling how the right and far right have to constantly market to everyone on a regular basis and with so much effort all the time in order to stay relevant.

How has Canada still not banned twitter? L government...

The oligarch did the thing as expected.

The loudest people are pretty much always wrong. If they are spending money to amplify their voice, then they are definitely wrong

I don’t use twitter and never have. I do use Facebook and it’s been giving me a steady diet of Carney ads. I haven’t seen a single CPC ad on any platform for that matter!

[-] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago

Canada Proud is the unofficial (official) ad campaign for the CPC. If you see them, know they're buds with pp.
