Stomp: "I'll have a rum . . . . And coke."

Bartender: "why the pause?"

Stomp: "Dunno, I've always had them."

[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 66 points 1 week ago

big pause or it doesn't make sense

[-] iamanurd@midwest.social 14 points 1 week ago

Massive paws would also work if you really exaggerate it. 😉

I'm gonna need another photo before I believe this is real... and I just want another.

Sounds like they need to adopt a different GF

[-] ickplant@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago

Right?! I’d go it alone with Stomp by my side.

[-] stebo02@sopuli.xyz 32 points 1 week ago

are we sure this is a cat and not a young lynx?

[-] Hathaway@lemmy.zip 21 points 1 week ago

It’s a Highlander cat. Natural bobbed tail, curled ears, and polydactyl claws.

[-] Klear@lemmy.world 33 points 1 week ago

Those are very rare. In fact, I'm pretty sure there can be only one.

At least it's not a young mountain lion...

[-] DannyBoy@sh.itjust.works 30 points 1 week ago

I am imagining the cat making exaggerated cartoon footstep sounds as it walks

[-] nick@midwest.social 22 points 1 week ago

I’d adopt this freak show in a second and give him the best home

[-] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

We can't see your cat's tail from this one picture. Is it short? Those feet and short tail may make Stomp a Pixie-Bob breed .

[-] DarkSirrush@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 week ago

Its a highland lynx, which are generally bred to have manx tail.

Fun fact: because of the manx tail, it has a high chance of being incontinent.

I got my long haired Highlander from a gal at work whose daughter was allergic. Best cat I’ve ever had.

[-] FooBarrington@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

Just imagine the amount of biscuits Stomp could make. Absolute perfection

Stomp summoned this book from the depths of my memory. Big things in store for those big paws!

the fire cat

[-] meekah@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

"An 'I can read' book" yeah why else would you have it then, smartass

/s just in case

I had that book as a kid and I'd completely forgotten about it until now!

[-] PyroNeurosis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 1 week ago

You know what they say about cats with big peets.

They need big cuddles. I'm glad he's got an accomodating home.

[-] aramis87@fedia.io 10 points 1 week ago

If this is actually your cat, you might get him checked for acromegaly.

[-] Davel23@fedia.io 16 points 1 week ago

Looks like polydactyly to me, which is not uncommon in cats.

[-] ickplant@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Not my kitty, but good to know!

[-] GenerationII@lemm.ee 23 points 1 week ago

Fun fact: Ernest Hemingway used to collect polydactyl cats and now, because of him, there is a abnormally sizable population of polydactyl cats on Key West, FL.

[-] nick@midwest.social 8 points 1 week ago

Ive been to the Hemingway house 20 or so times now (every year I visit) and it’s great. Now i just go to sit there and pet cats. I don’t even care about Hemingway.

[-] chuymatt@startrek.website 6 points 1 week ago

If you are not having a very large stiff drink while you are petting them, you may be doing it wrong!

Ground pounders up and around.

[-] BertramDitore@lemm.ee 8 points 1 week ago

I bet that adorable dude can move.

[-] bennypr0fane@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 1 week ago

It's not a pathological defect though? I mean does he have health problems because of his paws?

[-] IamSparticles@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Polydatctyly (extra toes) is not all that uncommon in cats. As far as I know it doesn't lead to any notable negative outcomes. We had a poly cat (named Poly because that's what the shelter called her) who lived a long and healthy life. Earnest Hemmingway famously kept and bred polydactyl cats at his home in Key West, and if you go visit the staff there still take care of their descendants.

Here's our Poly:

Hot damn! Those paws are comically big. It's like if a cartoon cat with big feet came to life but kept the disproportionate paws. Awesome!

I wanna see the boot not too big for the gd feet!

I love stomp

[-] st33lb0ne@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Call me crazy but I love it. Makes him even more cute!

[-] EySkibidiBabBab@feddit.dk 3 points 1 week ago

That cat clearly belongs to Jeff Dabe.

[-] ef9357@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I hope he doesn’t grow into those feet.
