Currently an alpha build but I've heard it has significant improvements in some games over Yuzu/previous forks. This team has been working on it for a while before this release, so this isn't just a logo swap with future plans.

There's also a fork of ryujinx

https://git.ryujinx.app/ryubing/ryujinx

which miraculously finally merged my PR for custom vsync limiter lol

Lovely news! Will have to take it for a spin later when I have some time. Also very glad to see that they're self-hosting their forge.

What are some less demanding switch games i can try out on a retroid 5?

I emulated Celeste on a very similar spec device. Assuming you haven't already played. Could also try Metroid dread, Hades, or echos of wisdom but I haven't tested those on my 865+ device.

Also try Turnip drivers for better performance if you haven't already gotten them.

Obviously an older thread at this point, sorry, but Mario Kart 8 deluxe actually just got a new update (3.0.4) that allows it to run NCE (native code execution) that lets it run much better on devices like yours. I've heard it works well on the RP5 now- might be worth a look if Mario Kart interests you at all.

Hell yeah this is great to hear, thanks for telling me!

I'm not sure how beefy the R5 is compared to the switch but Rayman Legends slaps and isn't very intensive at all

It's a snapdragon 865 with 8 gigs of ram, and seconding this rec it's very easy to run and a great time.

I've actually got RL and RO going on different systems (wii and I think vita)

That's cool. Yuzu was perfect for me and I already played and beat the 12 switch games I wanted. Hope the switch 2 gets emulated quickly too.

That's what I mean by improvements, I've heard performance is better. I don't have any benchmarks or anything though and haven't tested it myself.
