WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans added a provision to their sweeping tax cut package authorizing sales of hundreds of thousands of acres of public lands in Nevada and Utah, prompting outrage from Democrats and environmentalists who called it a betrayal that could lead to drilling, mining and logging in sensitive areas.

Well...

Wonder which of these MAGAts stand to profit from that fucking decision/situation...

Everything in the MAGAt world is about fattening their personal pocketbook.

New World Robber Barons all.

🙄 🤡 🖕 🖕

fret not(?), because i'm sure we'll find out the direct link between this decision and those who stand to benefit from it. but nobody will care until it fucks them in the ass.

i feel like there's a much older word in a language i can't speak that describes them much more accurately. edit - that word no longer exists, because history is written by the winners. for now.. i guess from now on it'll just be scribbled in crayon (but mind your stick-figure genders, people!)

I've had a conversation with a couple of trump supporters that are also outdoors people (hunting, fishing, camping). And they use the public lands for most of their hobbies. They told me that this is what would get them to question their vote.

While there are many things that I feel should have gotten them to this question sooner like illegally deporting people, raises prices of everything, etc. etc. But I wonder how many others on the fringe of this cult that are outdoors people this legislation will piss off?

People generally don't change their opinions until they're directly affected, sadly. Hopefully this one wakes a whole bunch of people up, I know among my own conservative acquaintances it'll have a huge impact if they go through with it. Pitiful that this will be a breaking point for so many, but at this point I'll take the wins I can get...

very large swaths of ~~rural~~ America are just like that

[-] RedditIsDeddit@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Cities are generally filled with much more tolerant and liberal folks. What you are implying is false.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 0 points 10 months ago

Come spend time with me. Like everyone else, they make broad sweeping theoretical statements. Theory and praxis often look different... If you can be bothered.

[-] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 10 months ago

Lol right. I'm sure they totally won't just move the goalposts like they always fucking do.

[-] njm1314@lemmy.world 44 points 10 months ago

That's your land they are stealing. Stealing to give away to their rich friends.

[-] thedruid@lemmy.world 42 points 10 months ago

Fuck this. Fuck it all.

Get on the land and start kicking them out. It is not the governments to sell. It belongs to we the people

[-] StonerCowboy@lemm.ee 10 points 10 months ago

Based on what I seen on this site and others

"WE THE PEOPLE" are cowards...

[-] thedruid@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

Easy to say that from behind a screen

[-] Texas_Hangover@sh.itjust.works 0 points 10 months ago

It's easy to spew half-assed "calls to action" from behind a keyboard as well.

[-] thedruid@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

Uh huh. When I see you protesting in the streets next to me, I'll care.

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 0 points 10 months ago

Don't be the dipshit associating your protests and your internet personas.

Destroying the planet to own the libs.

[-] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world 18 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

nah, they'd be fine destroying the planet anyway. politics just provides them with an enemy. take the enemy away, and they'd just find another way to keep on being the idiotic, annoying contrarians they're destined to be.

With outrageous garbage like this in the bill we can be guaranteed not a single democrat will vote for it, right? RIGHT?

Chuck schumer:

[-] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 12 points 10 months ago

Well they all voted for the internet censorship bill (the only nay votes were from two Republicans) so I'm sure it'll be more than just Schumer voting for it right before they all go on TV and talk about how "concerned" they are with the actions of the Republican party.

[-] snooisafascist@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago

Don’t worry, Chuck will send a strongly worded letter and then wash his hands of this.

[-] PlantPowerPhysicist@discuss.tchncs.de 20 points 10 months ago

[-] Hasherm0n@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

And the balances (of certain people's bank accounts) are up!

[-] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

It's what the voters wanted!

Yet another un-undoable action from the MAGAts. Fuck them all - no forgiveness, EVER.

[-] RedFrank24@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago

Who says it's undoable? All you need is the balls to go "Nah actually we're taking this back, get fucked"

[-] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 2 points 10 months ago

Which Dem do you see leading that charge? And how long will it be tied up in court?

[-] Ironfist79@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Nah, it just takes enough people with guns to seize the land.

[-] MiyamotoKnows@lemmy.world 23 points 10 months ago

Hey Republicans, Say goodbye to your favorite pristine hunting and fishing grounds. People don't buy land without plans of developing it.

[-] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 19 points 10 months ago

Putting that R next to your name is the uniform of soulless ghouls. They're the worst of American society, and have been consistently working to undermine this country for decades.

Let's just put all the Republicans in North Dakota, and keep them in one place.

[-] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 17 points 10 months ago

Sounds like something a MAGAt would do.

[-] Lemminary@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

Stopping at Repulibcan is fine. I think I remember Dubya trying some shit with the national parks.

Only the rich will have money to buy hundreds of billions of federal land.

I wish we could capture, enslave and sell these people but no one would want them because they're less than useless. Big money loser.

[-] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

Nothing will meaningfully improve until the rich fear for their lives
