I've heard some horror stories, but cannibalism is new

[-] kozy138@lemm.ee 26 points 1 year ago

[-] fsxylo@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 year ago

Of COURSE! They're paid in "experience" not anything tangible!

Bruh the data analytics is the fun part.

Everything else gets you ๐Ÿฅต and ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

I too, get horny and tired during fieldwork.

Biologists have all the fun.

Who wouldn't get a little riled up finding a new beetle species for the third time in a week?

[-] ArianaGrande@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Do they also masturbate on the clock?

[-] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

[-] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

[-] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 year ago

Who uses excel for data analysis??

Everyone I know use either R, or python if they're in comp sci.

[-] oce@jlai.lu 1 points 1 year ago

Well, experiments in CS are not as cool.

[-] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Why not? :3

Sure, I have a bias but.. I think we're doing plenty of cool stuff! Maybe not a 27-kilometre long particle accelerator level cool but...

[-] Gsus4@feddit.nl 15 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

You can't just collect and analyse the data either, you have to write a kickass paper, design an appealing poster and present it like it's the best thing ever and the respective talk...oh yea and then you have to write tons of kickass proposals to get the funding to do more experiments to collect more data and analyse it and... :)

Ouch. Ouchies.
Like a thin, delicate needle, straight through the heart.

I know, people are just a lot more willing to accept explosions if you say it's an experiment
