This is just one more reason why there needs to be an organization participating in protest spaces specifically to provide armed security, same as Black Panthers provided security for civil rights protests.

He was giving a specific example of escaping "when a mob comes and surrounds your vehicle, and threatens you." DeSantis says so many outrageous things for real and pushes outrageous policies for real, there's no need to misquote him.
