Recently, I came across Preveil, which is a service that can provide end-to-end encryption to either your Outlook, Gmail, or Apple Mail email accounts. It’s free, but if you want more storage, obviously, you will need to pay.

It looks very interesting as this could get others to use end-to-end encryption for the emails without having to move to another provider. However, I haven’t really seen any reviews (besides this one from PC Mag) or others expressing their experience with Preveil, so I am unsure if it’s a good service to use or recommend.

Has anyone used it or is familiar with Preveil? Does anyone know if there are similar services to Preveil, preferably those that are open source?

This can be done entirely client side with a PGP addon for your mail client or browser.

What addons do you recommend? Mailvelope is one that has been mentioned, but do you know any others?

I wouldn't trust it. It's using a ton of marketing jargon such as "military grade encryption" to make you think its doing more then it is.

This is not providing anything that more proven services already provide.

Remember: militaries usually buy from the lowest bidder, so anything military-grade is probably low quality.

Also, email isn’t a great medium for communicating securely, since the other party has to be just as mindful about security as you; otherwise it’s basically security theater.

LMAO, Preveil fails to include a libre software license text file. We do not control it, anti-libre software. Could their little scam be any more blatant.

I didn't know PGP had browser extensions. I'll take a look at mailvelope. Thank you.
