All I can say is that my wife could live in squalor for weeks without batting an eye, but simultaneously believes I'm high strung for not being able to chill if my space is dirty. Tells me to leave it. But we both know how bad it gets if/when I leave it, and it ends up being me who cleans it one way or another.
A friend of mine was / is a cleaner. He said by and large, women are far, far messier than men. Also, that their dirt levels are higher. Particularly dust on skirting boards, benches, windows sills, etc.
This is all I know. My wife and I both are quite clean.
In hostels, women tend to keep the rooms cleaner than men. However in my personal experience, the filthiest women are much more filthy than the filthiest men.
The extra cleaning in hostel environments could also be attributed to defensive nature, some men I knew kept tidy because kleptomania was around.
I care much more about things being clean and orderly than my wife, like, by quite a lot. I do a lot of cleaning.
I don't see a reliable statistical difference myself. For my part, I've got ADHD that causes shit to simply stop existing the moment it's sat down, and that ends up causing a lot of clutter
I would say we both have different focus - I'm more about keeping clutter to a minimum while my partner is more concerned with the dust and dirt buildup.
Kinda sounds like us
34m, live alone. My space is pretty much always tidy because of StumbleUpon haha. I once saw this random post and it said to always keep your hands busy when you’re going somewhere and it was super good advice. Stuff usually needs to be moved/thrown away/put away and doing it bit by bit when you are already moving around is not only less intimidating but also leaves you with a lil sense of accomplishment
Now there's a name I haven't heard in a very long time
Do Men/Boys usually clean their living spaces less frequently than Women/Girls?
That depends heavily on the question if my robot vacuum is a boy or a girl.
(I admit I haven't looked yet).
people who identify as female/feminine to be extra tidy?
Yes, I also think that people who identify are sometimes extra tidy.
