Sort of relaxed, slow-paced, not a ton of plot.

Tales from the Loop. I describe it as Eldritch Mundanity.

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

What was Wenger thinking bringing Walcott on so early?

Man how has no one said Friends? That's basically a white noise machine on loop for our house.

i loved this one lots.

Early Doors is another one I recommend to people who like Detectorists. Another slow burn, slice of life show. Definitely worth checking out :)

[-] Obi@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 week ago

Came in here to say detectorists, now I'm leaving with a new show to rewatch, score!

[-] Cherry@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

My lil comfort show

[-] Frostbeard@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Letterkenny. Mostly character driven

[-] MidsizedSedan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I watch King of the Hill if i need to slow down after a busy day

[-] InfiniteHench@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Letterkenny, maybe

[-] victorz@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I gotta throw Scrubs in the ring here. Skip season 9.

[-] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Rewatching Malcolm in the middle, has a lot of the same comedy style, I'm willing to bet same writers. Good shit all around.

[-] Randelung@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

If you're not opposed to anime: Frieren.

Totally chill, nothing complicated, hardly any plot arcs, pure bliss.

[-] Hugin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Lodge 49. Young guy joins a fictional group based on masons and other similar groups. It's a hanging with friends show with some plot.

[-] Acamon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Northern Exposure is an amazing and very gentle show, if you can handle 90s tv.

[-] QuoVadisHomines@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

Watch it on Amazon or the music wont make sense

[-] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I've always had a soft spot for this show, but I haven't seen it in years.

[-] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 2 points 1 week ago

Check out iyashikei as a genre if you like anime. Relaxed and wholesome is kind of the whole bag.

If you liked Corner Gas, also check out Kim's Convenience.

Cosmos by Carl Sagan. It a science miniseries that I love dearly, but it’s like video Quaaludes.

Burn Notice, Royal Pains

Basically anything made during the heyday of USANetwork. “Dramas” without intensity.

Earth Abides

Its mostly slow. Apocalypse genre, without the insanely selfish caricature of the personal relationships between people.

[-] PrimeErective@startrek.website 1 points 1 week ago

I started reading it because I saw it in The Last Of Us S2. Pretty good so far

[-] Davel23@fedia.io 1 points 1 week ago

Kim's Convenience.

“Welcome Back Kotter” is about remedial education class so probably that.

[-] FreakinSteve@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories and Extraordinary Attorney Woo are the greatest tv shows ever created. There will be no discussion.

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

Dead Like Me is fairly slow, but really interesting. Same with Coupling. Two great shows.

[-] artifex@lemmy.zip 0 points 1 week ago

Any hallmark channel original content is like white noise for your brain. If you like to have something on in the background but want to have absolutely no stake in the content it’s a good choice.

[-] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

We throw on bobs burgers or American dad on random for background stuff sometimes. Works well. Scrubs and the office the same

[-] mean_bean279@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

Modern family.

It’s just funny enough to be entertaining and has some loose plot that’s fine to follow. Easily forgettable, but great for throwing on. Also, it’s cool to watch the kids on that show grow up over its 10 year run.

Community

Parks and rec

Are others I would toss on for easy to watch. Although community and P&R hide a TON of jokes that make it even funnier if you pay attention.

Animal Control is like if Community had a baby with Parks and Rec.
