Billionaires buy up media to control the narrative and they agree with the vitriol so it stays as "free speech"; but because not speaking is also free speech other things just get buried.

THATS THE least of thier problems, its on the parents, and the kids are probably watching right wing influencers on thier non-school hours. as you know its also crucial for RW governments to have access to a pipeline of conservative men, mysogyny plays a big role and attacking education.

You can never completely regulate the internet and it's absolutely pointless to try.

You can regulate your child on the internet though, which I also think is pointless to try but it's more effective than the government stepping in

You can never completely regulate what people print and distribute so there's no point regulating newspapers.

You can never completely regulate people broadcasting radio messages so it's pointless to have broadcast standards.

If I break FAA regulations on an AM broadcast they'll knock on my door in a few hours.

If I start spreading Nazi propaganda they'll trace the paper back to the source.

If I empty Grandma's bank account into Bitcoin. It's fucking gone and nobody is going to find me.

That's the difference the older generation doesn't seem to understand.

The "younger generation" might be naive to think unwillingness to regulate is the same as inability to regulate.

Um, no. Absolutely worthwhile to establish a reasonable non-destructive internet. Bad players will always find ways - they always have - but they can and should be relegated to the fringes where they have to work to have their voices heard, not be amplified by the biggest platforms in existence.

Hold parents responsible for their failures. Suspend kids for their shitty behaviour, this leave parents to scramble to find childcare or forces them to miss work. After enough financial hits they are going to care, at least tangentially, about their children's behaviour.

I agree that the parents could pick up some slack but as a society we should make things easier for parents.

In itself while the article is about children but I think at this point it's clear there's a large if not larger segment of adults falling for this stuff. e.g. Conservative who despise taxes but they love Trump who with tariffs is taxing the hell out of people.

We're really talking about children and people who have the mental capacity of children.

Basically all of this misogynistic comes from the Internet, and it's all on the parents that they gave their kids free access to the Internet.

At this point you vant be THAT naive to think that the internet is a place of rainbows and unicorns.

Kids under 18 need to have obligatory limited access to the Internet with everything monitored. I'm sure I'll be down voted to hell for this but this is also the single solution to the single problem. No, kids don't need cellphones in school, or at all of you ask me. Make cell phones have age requirements that only gets excepted in special school classes where kids learn how to use the Internet responsibly.

Also hammer down hard on misogynistic content. Governments can hammer down on copyrighted content, they can hammer down on this too. No, this does not directly include sex kink sites (women go there too), yes, this includes any and all incel and "how to become a real man by being an asshole subs, sites, channels, content creators, etc.

Either way, you can't just give kids full Internet access and them be completely Pikachu surprised face when these kids see fucked up content.

I've been telling this for over twenty years now, maybe someone will finally listen when it's way too late?

Sometimes it is difficult for parents to limit access of their kids to social media, but they surely can control the narrative.

Talk to your kids and mold their opinion on things, can prevent them from falling for the crap online.

its mostly on the parents, a good one usually dont let them have one until there in thier late or mid teens not before. or the parents that WAITED too long to finally start raising thier children, and embarrasing them in public. i had a parent that did that when i was in HS, came to the school often to "moniter" his son, and was making remarks how she cared about his son more than ours, we were thinking "bitch you waited too long to raise him, and waited til he almost graduated in the same semester to FINALLY change him, he already set his mind on doing the bare minimum, you shouldve done that before he was in high school, by the time you reach sophmore and junior its already too late, thats when you are planning college and studying the SAT tests, and career field.
