Battlefield is cooked this is guaranteed going to be the last we'll see of the series.

The highest selling battlefield game was 15 million copies there's no way they'll reach 100 mill and promising a f2p battle royale like that trend died ages ago and we've already been and gone with extraction shitters.

After the shutdown of codemasters almost immediately after buying them and defacto killing

  • wrc

  • dirt rally
  • project cars
  • grid
  • need for speed

Dice is next on the chopping block and bioware will absolutely follow shortly after leaving only mainstream sports games left

EA absolutely doesn't expect this to happen. They're saying they expect it, so that when B6 fails to....checks notes....sell 3.5 times more than their highest selling iteration, they can shutter the studio and strip it for parts, adding some more short term profit and buying some dipshit CEO some more time.

Setting unrealistic targets always ends well!

No it's because there's too many gay programmers

Yes exactly! and by “end” we mean the next shareholders meeting. We’ll figure out what comes after when we get there shrug-outta-hecks

I wonder: is it on purpose, as a way to internally justify the liquidation of Dice?

Me screaming "the tendency of the rate of profit to fall" at my computer monitor (I've never read Marx).

Edit: I meant to post this in the general mega.

spoilerI've long maintained that medieval men's fashions are superior to modern ones. Specifically having a belt around your natural waist so it can't fall down without it having to be cinched overly tight and then hanging all your shit off that belt is something that has always seemed wondrous to me.

But I was thinking about it, just sitting around fantasizing about wearing a tunic and a belt with an axe stuck through it supporting a drawstring purse full of coins, and then I realized that's basically just a fanny pack. Fanny packs are the modern heir to the practical garb of that most industrious race, the medieval peasantry.

Completely ruined it for me.

Sounds like Dice is the next company to be shut down in future. Fucking 100 million users where Warzone/cod and Fortnite are a thing, lol.

If I have time I want to not buy this game

Considering (according to Wikipedia at least), the entire franchise has only sold 88 million copies, even if this was worded to be for the franchise to reach 100m would be a stretch.

100m copies sold for a single title would make it 3rd best selling game of all time loosing only to Minecraft and GTA V.

Even at the peak of the series' powers with Battlefield 1, as the employee notes, it achieved "maybe 30 million plus."

yeah imma go ahead and say this thing won't be three times more popular as battlefield 1. and with the price of games now breaking the 80 dollar barrier (and the almost certain 100~200 GB hard drive size + 60 GB day one patch if it's not just online download only) you're almost guaranteed to lose most sales outside north america, europe and japan. even if you went f2p im sure the majority of the audience for an FPS like this is already taken by CoD. this is just a tactic by EA suits to cut off dice.
