So far I've found:

Hiatus kayote (phychedelic jazz funk)

The Steppers (funky slight phych to it, fun live)

Alyson rae (pop funk)

Laneous (I don't really know where he fits but it's got something. Sad clown neo soul?)

Play lunch ( chillipeppers flavor)

Kaiit(funky neo soul)

Squid nebula (phychedelic funk)

Anything else I should be checking out. I lean more jazz/hiphop/gospel/neo soul than I do phychedelia.

Let's get a playlist going!

Screenshot of Wikipedia article "Funk", which reads "Funk is a music genre that originated in African-American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a"

My man, if you "don't even know what funk is", that ain't cos you're old.

(Not knowing the specific bands could be.)

Skunkhour used to be pretty good back in the day. If you like jazz-funk check out Directions In Groove. 90’s.

Saving this post so I can come back. I'll be checking them all out.

For an older band, Swoop. I still have the CD.

Edit: I literally just discovered they put out a second album.

Client Liaison, if you extend your definition of funk to 80s Minneapolis boogie groove.
