I've made a habit of wiping the contacts on the earbud and case with a finger before putting it away, then I give the bud a bit of a wiggle once it's in so the contacts rub together and hopefully dislodge/break through any dirt or oil.

I miss when people made fun of those who bought wireless earbuds.

[-] Mbourgon@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

My Jabras are horrid about that.

[-] perishthethought@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago

And my Samsung Galaxy buds too.

[-] swagmoney@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago

skill issue. pay less get headphones with wires

[-] tankfox@midwest.social -1 points 1 week ago

My man I got a set of wireless earbuds for ten bucks at a hardware store. How much less could wired ones cost? A banana?

probably not much less, but you could definitely get wired ones with a much better build quality

[-] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

Wireless earbud batteries always give out after a few months with me. I just paid double the price for good wired headphones like Moondrops after my fifth dead pair. They've lasted me three years and multiple trips in the washer and dryer so far. The bass is also pretty decent for such a small form factor.

[-] swagmoney@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

yikes. how do they sound? lol

[-] Mothra@mander.xyz 6 points 1 week ago

Yes this also infuriates me

[-] schnokobaer@feddit.org 2 points 1 week ago

Name and shame, would love to know what brands to avoid

[-] Mothra@mander.xyz 3 points 1 week ago

Jabra does it regularly for me. I'm not sure if it's a brand issue tbh, it could very well be the amount of oils and wax in my ear, which in my opinion isn't out of the ordinary but it prevents an earbud from recharging properly. Sometimes it won't do until I wipe with alcohol. Visually there is no difference between before and after wiping.

I've complained in the past and I got a lot of Jabra zealots swearing they've never had anything like this happen to them. Also I haven't tried wireless from other brands yet so take that into account.

[-] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago

This is ass. Sometime i have to jiggle the bud for it to make contact even after cleaning the contact point.

[-] ohshit604@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

I guess this is a pro for AirPods because I don’t think I’ve encountered this in the many years of owning em.

[-] N00b22@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yeah this is one of the few issues I have found on the Buds FE (at least the pair I have rn). Other than that, they are pretty good for the price, and sometimes they give them for free if you buy a phone from Samsung (at least here in Costa Rica)

[-] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 week ago

My AirPods never did this, but my AirPod Pros do this sometimes. I think it’s cuz I never clean the contacts, but alas.

I don’t use my regular AirPods much after getting my pros last year, but I gotta say.. fuckin amazing headphones. My old regular pair still lasts 2-3 hours on a charge, and I used them 40+ hours weekly for years.

[-] blackstrat@lemmy.fwgx.uk 2 points 1 week ago

Charging them 20x a week sounds ridiculous.

Wired IEMs but wireless with the Qudelix 5K 💪

[-] eezeebee@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 week ago

Any recommendations?

I tried the Moondrop Chu 2 and they were great, but after 6 months of daily use the sound is partially cutting out and I have to jiggle the wire to "fix" it temporarily. Need something more durable.

[-] AndyMFK@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

As the other replier mentioned crinicle is great for reviews. For IEMs I use the original moondrop Chu and they're good, I also use the kz zsn pro. Also good. But ultimately i really only use IEMs when I'm out on a run or walking to the shops where sound quality isn't as important. If at home I'll use over ear headphones and I have beyerdynamics dt770s which are great and super comfy (also built like a tank if durability is a concern)

Whatever the guy that starts with c- reviews them all. I've had good luck with his truthear reds. Only $50 but great for my needs.

Edit- Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED

[-] eezeebee@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

Oh yeah, Crinacle is a legend. How long have you had these and how often do you use them?

[-] piefood@feddit.online 1 points 1 week ago

This happens all the time with my PineBuds. It's infuriating

[-] UltraBlack@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

I'm glad I stopped at the pinephones. They fucking suck

[-] Lumisal@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

Well, they do constantly state everywhere it's tech made for tinkering with, not made to be used as a regular consumer.

[-] UltraBlack@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

My problem with them isn't that the software is beta but rather that there is only a single person (megi) doing all the heavy lifting for pine in their free time and they're the only reason why the pinephone even remotely works.

I'm annoyed that pine's software support concept is to hope that somebody will do all the work.

Also the hardware is dogshit and their QC is too

[-] Peculiaris@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

Haha, never moved to earbuds, was sticking to neckbands fn.

Though after the VP's comments, Imma getting the wired earphones next!

[-] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 week ago

Mine are so cheap they have separated on the Bluetooth and are now considered two independent devices on both my phone and computer.

[-] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 0 points 1 week ago

You just need to clean the base

[-] ameancow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago
