Technically a septic tank is not considered a sewer system. A sewer system is a network of pipes, pumps, and other infrastructure designed to transport wastewater for central processing...a septic tank processes the waste on-site.
You are the best kind of correct, buuut yeah, if I flush and the sweetcorn goes somewhere that I don't have to look at it then that's enough for me :-)
And solar panels and a big battery for electricity. And a good sceptic system so i don't have to crap in a hole in the ground outdoors 500 feet away from my house. And a good general store in easy driving distance. And a powerful 4x4 vehicle that can get down to the main road even when the giant driveway path is very muddy or covered in 5 feet of snow. And a decent medical facility not too far away so when a health problem arises i don't lose a limb that could've been saved. And a post office not too far away so i can get packages delivered. I'd rather have a store within biking / fat biking / skiing / hiking distance to be less reliant on a car. Maybe some electric mobility option like an e-skidoo / ebike.
A poo bucket is not nearly as bad as it sounds. (Saw dust and distance keep the smell down.)

Also, log cabin homes are bad. The one pictured has the internal space of an efficiency apartment, but uses far more logs of wood to get a much draftier result. You could get a lot of 2x4s out of this thing.

Whenever this get posted people comment about ACKTUALLY this is bad because no food/water/electricity or whatever but I think we're missing the point. If you magically woke up one day and had rightful ownership of this land and this house, presumably getting out of paying housing costs or rent, well, if that happened to me that would be the highest point of my life so far. Solving the problems of all the other stuff you wouldn't have is still a more realistically solvable problem than trying to make a sustainable income in the face of rigged housing costs in this absolute clown show of a society we live in.
Honestly, I'd be ecstatic with owning any property right now....

I legit almost had that dream. Used to live on the KY/TN border. Had 50 acres, half mile off the road and no neighbors. Right as I determined I was moving the local power company started their own fiber ISP. Brought fiber right up to the house.
Pass, I like being able to walk to the store and concerts and stuff. Maybe with the hydroponics and aeroponics boom everybody can just live in a city and leave nature alone?
In theory cities are more efficient, than living off-grid, I agree.
In reality though if you're really careful and know what you're doing (and are really disciplined and have educated yourself), you can live a true carbon neutral life.
All the infrastructure in cities and everything around modern life is just destructive in so many ways unfortunately...
And unfortunately the mass of people don't care enough, to initiate the necessary systemic changes to make cities truly sustainable...

And that is relevant how? I don't say that it's a lifestyle for the average person, definitely not.
Because he lived sustainably alone in the woods off of his own filtered piss and a snail filled garden. In the end he did all of that to get into the good place and still didn't.
It was analogous to the unreachable perfect standard of goodness.
So you're extrapolating from this single case? As I say, if you know what you're doing it's less effort than you think, you let nature do its thing for you and just nudge it in the right direction, so you just harvest the fruits. And yet again, just because that lifestyle isn't for you it can still be for others...

Cross-posting as part of ongoing boycotting/protest efforts against .ml
Why am I cross-posting .ml content?
I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don't want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some niche comms.

And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can't even put them all here because this comment would be really long.
I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda
On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like "Lemmy? Isn't that the place with a bunch of tankies?" Or "Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left". The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.
Sure, but:
- That doesn't excuse not even attempting a first-blush attempt at authoring even just the title yourself
and
- Constantly reposing duplicates en-mass makes the experience way worse for those of us who don't have a personal vendetta against particular target lemmy instances and who haven't defederated with them out of spite or distaste

It's not possible to cater things in a way that's pleasant for everyone at once. Your slightly degraded experience, is another's "godsend" be it because they were forced out of .ml because of the "horrible" crime of supporting ukraine or calling out Russian propaganda or because by choice ala instance defederation or choosing to block them
Hence the reason people say, you need to cater your feed for an optimal experience.
Making the experience worse for everyone because you have a personal ideological disagreement with another instance is hardly what I'd consider a justified moral crusade, but it's easy enough to block reposts when they're coming from a single user, so you do you.
I'm curious how you can justify speaking for everyone? How is everyone's experience worse? I'm sure the users of lemmy.cafe or any other instance that defederates or otherwise blocks .ml don't notice a degradation.
I've even had people thank me for doing what I do because it's actually an improvement for them so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Reposting these memes shows up on everyone's feed regardless of if they're subscribed or federated with .ml - i'm not speaking for 'everyone', only pointing out who your script is impacting, which is everyone in that subset.
Not everyone has gotten banned on .ml.
Just a small point of clarification, there's no script, every crosspost is done manually. It would actually be rather impractical to script it, since I wouldn't want to accidentally crosspost some Tankie crap, like an RT article or a pro-NK meme or something lmao
