They really do want One Party Government

[-] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 2 points 6 days ago

I thought it was GOP, not OPG?

Greedy Old Pedophiles

They've had it for twenty years. Historically, Republicans were a bit more patient and savvy about baiting one or two Dems to break ranks.

Paxton simply can't pass the Marshmallow Test. He won't wait a few weeks for a right wing pressure group to break them like they did in 2003 or 2021. He's got to have his win right now.

Serious question: Has anyone ever been convinced to change their MAGA allegiance after some blatant hypocrisy was identified?

Because if it has and does occasionally happen then I'll shut my mouth and be glad for small progresses.

If not, why the fuck do we (humans, citizens) even fucking bother? Truth stopped mattering a decade ago. Likely longer, but I'll say a decade.

I believe the Epstein files debacle is doing that for some. And there's been news stories + memes about people getting pangs of regret long after they voted for the turd.

It is of course still sad how much these people are willing to overlook. And how much "fact bombardment" it takes to reach their bubbles.

Never give up.

Other than the Epstein thing the other commenter mentioned, a lot of people who are affected personally by the actions of the regime, especially when they are outside of the promised group to be punished.

There is no "getting" these hypocrites. They cannot feel shame. They don't play by the same rules.

[-] artifex@piefed.social 25 points 1 week ago

Such a pity, too. Not long ago something like this would have ended even a powerful politician's career. Dead. Full stop. But now, who can blame them? They've learned that there are no consequences for their hypocrisy and bad behavior, so why would they change?

[-] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

As long as Democrats continue to pretend to be surprised by Right Wing misbehavior instead of doing anything about it, this shit'll keep happening

its a uniparty, they are both codepedant on each other for survival, the gop needs dems to be railed on, and ds need to put a faux opposition party to be relevant.

[-] fubbernuckin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago

But what if the dems realized they could become a real opposition party and have power.

[-] Sanctus@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago

I hate to say it but there are consequences for all this. Some less immediate than others.

[-] YtA4QCam2A9j7EfTgHrH@infosec.pub 10 points 1 week ago

Yeah that is my point. Sorry it wasn’t clear. I can’t stand liberals who play gotcha with fascists. The fascists do not give a fuck. If anything they like that their message is spread more.

I know a guy who voted for trump and was living in a bubble. His bubble has been officially popped. We try not to laugh because he's fighting the good fight now, but we've been trying to wake him up since the last term.

TL:DR- People do switch sides occasionally. It's worth the effort.

… They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. …

The reality that a Republican has done wrong is never as important as the suspicion that a Democrat might be thinking of doing wrong.

[-] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 1 week ago

That lying, evil piece of shit can't possibly be a hypocrite, can he? My whole sense of reality is falling apart. Republicans acting in bad faith?! Say it isn't so!
