ringtones were big there for a while, but now it seems everyone just leaves them on default.

Most of the time my phone is on silent but I use a custom recording of bamboo blocks as a ringtone otherwise.

I had a weird itch that I just had to get the KotOR 2 Telos Apartment Console Ringtone for my phone, but I couldn't find it until I just found some weird scuffed version on Zedge that also had the Telos cantina music in the background with it.

Silent these days. For a while I used the "black headcrab nearby" sound from HL2 as a text tone tho. Was fun watching people's reactions to it.

[-] Million@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

My ringtone is now default. But for a long time it used to be the aqua teen hunger force "dancing is forbidden" song, without the starting noise of the baseball bat destroying the radio.

My alarm is also some default now, but it used to be a 5 second long loop of the EVE online shield alarm closely followed by the hull alarm .

There's a ringtone from the Jason Statham movie Crank where he hears a ring and it starts distorting because he's high AF. That's my ringtone. I like the frequency sweep and discordance; it makes it easier to pick out of background noise for me.

  • Phone call: Circuit (from iOS, copied over from when I used an iPhone)
  • Notification: Pizzicato (mostly for nostalgia)
  • Alarm: Argon (sometimes have to switch it up or I'll sleep through)

In practice, it's on silent at the office and vibrate elsewhere.

It's like dun-dun dun dun-dun-dun dun dun dun-dun. DUHN-DUHN DUHN-DUHN-DUHN-DUHN DUHN DUHN DUHN-DUHN.

It was the ringtone from Crank for a while… but now I haven’t a clue what my ringtone is - whatever came by default on my phone. I don’t think I’ve ever intentionally turned it off silent.

i've been using this one for almost two decades now, for about as long as i've had a phone that could use custom sound files. although i've had my phone on silent since about then too.

Amazing Horse

[-] HiddenLayer555@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

The default one. Haven't even opened the ringtone page in the settings.

[-] Carl@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Been rockin this for years, I will never change it

for my notifications I have a folder with all of navi's sounds from OOT, and I used to have a program that randomized them every time I got a notification, but something changed somewhere and I haven't been able to get that to work for a while.

[-] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 1 points 1 week ago

Lemon Boy - Puzzle Pieces at the moment.
I don't get calls much so I change my notification tones much more frequently. Currently I have Reinhardt from Overwatch saying 'Unacceptable!' It's an example of my favorite kind of phone sound, which is situational injections. It's great to have little moments where someone is talking about something and my phone decides to join the conversation.

Friend: 'It was so annoying. How did he not see that coming?'
Phone: 'Lucio: Why are you so angry?'

Friend: 'I gotta hit the bathroom.'
Phone: *dramatic orchestra*

Friend: 'Hey, how much do you know about X?'
Phone: 'Krieger: I probably shouldn't show you this, but I'm totally going to.'

[-] jbaber@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 week ago

A recording of me heavily exhaling so that nobody but me notices when it rings. I never have to put my phone on silent.

[-] jbaber@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 week ago

And for alerts like texts, this single pop for the same reason.

[-] bzLem0n@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

The Stanfields - Fight Song (vocals removed).

[-] TheLeadenSea@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

My phone just vibrates lol

[-] belated_frog_pants@beehaw.org 1 points 1 week ago

I dont have a tone set and am always on silent mode. I hate the noises.

[-] brokenlcd@feddit.it 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

For the ringtone i have the ringtone from the sip pulsar phone we had in italy while for notifications i have the cascade chime from some doorbell in an ancient condo i worked at. Before that i had the "you got mail" from aol. But it was a bit too esotheric since no one where i live speaks english

[-] blargh513@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Mega Man 2 theme. Phone is usually on vibrate but I put it into noisy mode from time to time.

I work in cyber security and I was spending the day in the SOC (security operations center, room full of nerds and a ton of monitors, everyone is watching security events). I left to take a piss and didnt take my phone. Someone called and ringtone played at top volume while I was away. Upon return I was greeted to half the room thinking it was funny the other half being most irritated with me. I was a director back then, so they couldn't really say too much (I mean, I wouldn't have cared, but corporate pecking order) which made it all the funnier.

[-] tasho@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I've set my phone to have all notifications silent except for ringtones, which I like best :-)

my main ringtone is death grips - system blower (the train sound opening), and meowfey - from the start (a memey cat meow cover of the original) set for my partner.

Barns Courtney 99

[-] daniskarma@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

Matrix ringtone.

So I can hope I can scape the simulation instead of answering to a scammer call.

[-] flop_leash_973@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I found some generic guitar riff mp3 years ago I liked. Been using that on every phone since then.

[-] dosse91@lemmy.trippy.pizza 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The default ringtone in LineageOS, but I use talk.wav from Quake (1996) for notifications, I love that sound

[-] SoulKaribou@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago

Indiana Jones theme

Every spam call is an adventure!

[-] uhmbah@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago
