Moria being a Kozuki is one of the most "well ok" lore drops of all time. Kinda funny Wano is honouring such a scumbag
Harald is fully Gorbachev'd now, chasing a false promise of peace under the thumb of hegemony.

Didn't notice that almost. Now it makes sense how he about those samurai corpses.
I wouldn't say Harald got gorbachev'd if anything its a inevitable setup to fall. Although he embodies falling for bush and co. saying NATO won't move eastward energy.
He is almost better than otohime as far as instincts go. But ultimately like otohime seeking legitimacy seems to be their detriment.
Gecko Moria only became a scumbag after Kaido and the Beast pirates wiped out his entire crew. He serves as a foil to Luffy whose will was broken and he doesn't want to ever get a living crew again only to lose them all.
I literally don't know how to feel about Kozuki Moria though, such a bombshell drop when everyone was thinking that this would be some lore tidbit. Yamato cover story is eating good now.
How much more betrayal can Loki take !!
I guess Harald didn't have makings of a varsity athlete.
It's so funny to see Harald get crushed by what's basically an ant-sized person to him. Though I think this fight was symbolizing a breaking of their friendship rather than Harald earnestly trying to kill his long time friend (unless Harald was truly the rat).
I don't think the elders already gave the go to kill rocks yet. They floated the idea. But as we know rocks died at god valley supposedly fighting roger and garp. Again we don't know how much of that is true.
But the fight this chapter seemed to be more about rocks getting mad that Harald made a deal as opposed to Harald wanting to kill him.
If he is a rat he deliberately refused to do shit. That ended up making elders take last minute decisions to target rocks at god valley. Ultimately also deciding to destroy Harald anyway afterwards.
If anything all things point to IMU killing rocks with that nuke weapon they got.
Hardest panels
I guess I gotta wait till roger actually fights rocks. God valley it is.
Dang I didn't notice how genuinely sad Rocks looks in that panel with Harald
The Rayleigh/Shakky relationship is really funny. I love how these chapters also do the one piece recontextualization shtick but its just Roger getting shafted. Now luffy inherits his will but hes an aro-ace king so lmao no pirate king is getting laid.
Also get fucked Harald I hope Loki murders your reformist ass.
The irony of Roger telling Gloriosa that he doesn't like women who throw themselves at him when behaving the exact same way towards Shakky was a good laugh
I don't think it was roger getting shafted as opposed to anyone else. Since her intro shakky clearly pursued Rayleigh. But whatever weird reasons she left to open a bar at hachinosu.
As for this chapter it seemed like roger was egging on Rayleigh take up shakky's offer from her note. Rayleigh ended up not leaving the ship. Roger entering the bar became a standoff.
Harald is literally stringer bell getting owned by clay Davis in the wire. If anything rocks vs Harald scene is even close to stringer and avon confrontation.
Its funny how before this arc, everyone was thinking Rocks would be on the same level of scummy evil as Blackbeard, but Oda really said "actually he's Dragon if he stopped looking East and actually did shit but was also a pirate"
Rocks turned out to be a larger political pawn than anyone in the pirate world. Ruling class legit wanted that guy dead way before they had those targets for roger or as it stands Harald.
Must suck to be Harald though. He died horribly and lost his legit friend. And turns out that friend had the correct instincts when it came to the ruling class.
Well he did do a lot of destruction and pillaging but it turns out he was only exceptionally evil from the perspective of the WG, so much that they literally dropped him from history
Not that relevant to the chapter, but how good do you think the ending of one piece will be politically?
I love One Piece and trust Oda, but I think it might be heading towards a reformist direction in the end. With "good" Marines taking over. I don't hate some marine characters, but I think they totally deserve to be killed, if they stand against the revolution. Like Koby is cute, but if he died in a raid by the revolutionaries while trying to protect some monarchists on their way to the dictator convention kindly hosted by genocidal slavers, well, sorry but he brought it on himself. Of course for plot convenience, the people doing the raid that day were cartoonishly evil pirates, but it could easily have been otherwise.
I can't relate to how Garp is hyped up. He should have died fighting to protect the people of God valley. The fact, that he's still alive condemns him.
I don't like how the narrative that most marines are good and saving lives daily is successfully pushed in the fan base. More like holding up slavery, monarchy and genocide daily.
Should I be less worried about that aspect of the ending potentially falling short? I'm sure I'll be able to greatly enjoy it overall anyway, but this aspect might get annoying.
Thank you for making this comment since I see this brought up a lot in the fandom and it never being handled well.
I think Oda is saying that the marines themselves represent a large and organized military force being controlled by the WG. If the revolutionaries depose the nobles, you'll still need to answer the question of where this world spanning military will go.
I think Koby and the SWORD plotline is to set up him taking the lead and making sure the marines dont overthrow the revolution. But its not so clear cut at this point and Oda loves throwing curve balls.
Garp is condemned and his retribution is giving his life to koby and the next generation to choose justice over rank.
I think Oda has this in the bag, but it will still be lib since its shonen jump
Lots of manga reading people (more so one piece) really don't got much comprehension at times. Some do but overall its very diluted. Same with people who read hunterxhunter. Hence the whole dumb narrative about marines doing good.
As for oda or broader one piece ending I don't think he is really putting forth some communist treatise. Mainly cause I don't think he himself got any grasp on how contradictions resolve. It would be some vague "oh the masses chose whatever form of governance and live happily ever after".
I love a song of ice and fire, grrm is a old hippie guy. Even then the text stands on its own. He really gets good with ruling rich mfs and their attempts at keeping their wealth at an enormous cost.
With garp or koby they are kept forth as foils to other characters. Garp is much of a foil to his own son just as Harald is to rocks. Garp is someone who thinks military has a public utility but he still dislikes what its real use is for. So he tries to distance himself by being underneath chain of command.
Garp or his actions are not known until we get there I guess. Him being a indecisive stooge is his theme. Whether aokiji is a spy or not is unrelated but his fight with garp was on the same grounds.
Koby is the same he is kept as an foil for luffy but koby himself overestimates his capability.
The ending will be something as I said "everyone gets together and runs their nations, live happily ever after". It doesn't really matter to me. It could be whatever. But that's that.
That's why I love araki and his Jojo series. He loves his anti climax so much.
Fans suck don't think about what they push forth.
Dropped the bomb with the twins at the end. Very bitter chapter. Lotsa gloom. Fuck garling.
So many things converge at that horrific god valley.
Its unclear whether those twins are Garling's or worse ......... Oh god
The villager says that daddy is away, so that's either referring to Garling or some third party character we don't see. It's possible that in the incident at God Valley, the twins are separated from their birth parents and Shanks goes with Roger and Shamrock with Garling.
Twins yeah sure but its not clear whether they are garling's kids (even if he took shamrock). That whole island was probably enslaved in that incident including those two kids. Beyond that I don't know.
We got the shanks and shamrock reveal this chapter too. I wonder what the secret of God Valley was. Also fucking based that they rejected joining the WG especially in the 4 blues.

Seems like a reason as to why they chose it
