This means the boycotts are working, and we should intensify our efforts.

[-] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 14 points 12 hours ago

Americans are also now anti American. I don't want to support my own country anymore. My country is a dictatorship and all our tax dollars are being used to fund genocide, human trafficking, and war crimes.

Republicans voted for this and funny none of them are saying a damn word.

We hate trump. And we saw all the US brands suck Trump's dick as soon as he got elected. Of course we aren't going to buy from brands that suck Trump's dick.

[-] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 5 points 18 hours ago

You're not Australian then ? The vast majority give no shits.

[-] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 19 hours ago

Won't anybody think about the corporations? 🥺

[-] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 34 points 1 day ago

Normally this is the kind of thing an administration would actually listen to, but I think Donnie’s fully committed to the cliff jump.

[-] BanMe@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

This why CEOs doing weird shit like trying to convince him to up the minimum wage and complaining about anti-americanism as a result of his bad policies. Normally their mouths are too full of his pubic hair to say anything critical at all. They scared.

[-] brightandshinyobject@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

The CEOs could just pay people more. Ooops, forgot to think of the shareholders.

[-] Lemminary@lemmy.world 8 points 22 hours ago

I think about their collapse, does that count?

I wanna do a little rant.

All of the half-staff orders during Biden's presidency, I never saw McDonald's do so. I fucking hated them for this reason. I thought the company was just brain dead and didn't wanna follow the flag rules.

However, when the recent school shooting happened, their flag was half-staff. I think they're a bunch of Trump bootlickers. I'll never support their shitty fast food business (and haven't for many years now)

Uh, duh?

And, good. Fuck the US.

I fully support everyone not buying US products when possible. I fully support the massive decline in tourism. I fully support leaving if you're able.

Don't tell us, tell the asshole you put in office. Stupid fucking billionaires.

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 1 points 9 hours ago

they wanted this. they should now get it.

They targeted brands.

Brands.

A group of people who will sit for hours, days, even weeks on end performing some of the hardest, most soulless penny-pinching. Over, and over, and over all for nothing more than a .0001% increase in revenue for their shareholders and a greasy sales exec saying they did.

They'll punish their workers making them do things others would consider torture, because they think it's profitable.

They'll spend most if not all of their free time min maxing the stats of a fictional spreadsheet all to draw out a single extra penny of revenue per quarter.

Many of their co-conspirators have made careers out of doing just these things: slogging through the grind, all day, the same tasks over and over, hundreds of times to the point where we know evety little detail such that some consumers have attained such brand loualty that they literally integrate ads and corporate slogans into their daily conversations or everyday fashions, completely unprompted!

Do these people have any idea how many targets have been smashed, markets oversaturated, families and communities destroyed in frustration? All to latter be referred to as bragging rights?

These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our shares? We're already falsifying new ones without them. They take our exploitation? Brands aren't shy about outsourcing the suffering else where, or even making the domestic prices for up themselves. They think calling brands racist, mysoginistic, rape apologists is going to change them? They've been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a shitty head set. They picked a fight against a group that's already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they've been threatened with. Who take it as a challenge when they are told that humans should be treated with dignity and that regulations matter. Brands' obsession with proving they can after being told they can't is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic they used to be that tax evasion, fraud, and twisting the whole fabric of society to favor them has become a very real need; a honed reflex.

(Lazily adapted from the "they targeted gamers" copypasta)

As a Canadian, it was relatively easy to cut out US goods during my grocery shop. A bit harder to cut out other manufactured goods, but I'm trying.

A shift in consumer sentiment is just the very surface of the damage trump and republicans have done to trust in the USA. Every country out there will be conducting a root and branch review of their exposure to American tech. And that is not happening in public view.

Should’ve thought about that before donating to the current administration’s re-election campaigns.

Order of one Nazi Nuggets, please! Hold the genocide sauce.

Who'd've thought that people don't want to be associated with nazi products, goods, and services?

Everyone. Every fucking One.

As an American, I've been avoiding American brands as much as I can for a decade or more. Made in America has never been an indicator of quality, much like "military grade" only means "made as cheaply as possible to meet the minimum specifications".

[-] bhamlin@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago
