I had seen memes of his face being small in relation to his head, but I had no idea of his ramblings. His name wasn't familiar to me before he met his end. I would not have minded never to have known him at all.

The guys been a hate-mongering fixture on the right for around a decade. Far more prominent than Shapiro.

Where are you from? Just curious. I heard of him only from a south park series.

I still don't know who he was. Just that many people were deeply unhappy with his existence and that he was perceived as far right. I also don't care.

I only found out who he was when someone was talking about the Gavin Newsom podcast a few months ago

The name sounded familiar but I couldn't place it. I thought he was some old guy.

To me he was the guy who popped up in youtube shorts once in a while always telling some college student they were wrong about something. I thought he seemed a little... Not open to listening to a counter argument. He seemed like he had his responses prepared and would railroad over most of these kids before they finished talking. Not to mention.. Kids. I never saw him debate any older folks. Maybe he's really good at that, too and I just missed it.

After the news I did a search, filtered out the days after his death. Found his podcast listened to a couple episodes and pretty quickly decided that I don't hate people in the same sense he seemed inclined to. Lots of antiblack antigay talk that just did not mesh for me.

Agree. I just saw him as one of the meme faces whose face gets minimized randomly on low effort memes; had no idea who he was until he died.

I'd never heard of him, but I'm not American. I saw a headline something like, "panic after Kirk shooting" and wondered if someone had shot up a church service in Scotland.

Only heard of him when I subscribed to r/ToiletPaperUSA which was a parody to Turning Point USA and learnt tiny bit of what he said but I never gone out my way to research about him as I know Far-Right figures (even the online one) just pissed me off.

I only learnt lot more about him when he died when Liberals on Bluesky pull the "we should debate" and sided with Right-wingers who said it's "The Left" is responsible. Mind you, that's even before we found out both the killer and their political stance which turns out, he's the Groyper (some 4Chan far-right bullshit). Think he killed Charlie as they believe he wasn't Right-wing enough and had for years spread an smear campaign I believe against him.

Like 98% of people had no idea (guessing), which I think is why a big % are not sure how to mourn or laugh. They do recognize the Change My Mind meme and sometimes Toilet Paper USA though.

Yeah, I’ve never heard of the guy and people in America are treating him like a messiah, watched a few clips and he had some really terrible ideas, I don’t see the appeal to be honest.

I probably agree with the dude on one or two issues but I’m pretty sure he was just another grifter for the republicans. No one deserves to die on the internet like that I guess, he did say some people had to die for second amendment freedoms though I have no clue
