Literaly irrelevant Iran is already a BRICS member, literaly got bombed to shit and literaly got Chinese and Russian thoughts and prayers as an aid response as it was happening, tough luck sucks to suck.

The sites in Iran where Russian engineers were working didn't get bombed. All Palestine needs is a hospital or factory run by the Chinese or Russians, and Israel won't touch it.

[-] sictransitgloria@hexbear.net 9 points 8 months ago

Israel won't just touch it, they will flatten it, and China & Russia will unleash their strong condemnations in response

[-] theturtlemoves@hexbear.net 10 points 8 months ago

they will flatten it

Remember when Israel carefully avoided the one site with Russian engineers when bombing Iran? Israel might be a mad dog, but they very well understand the difference between a regional power and a superpower.

wasn't that mostly because that plant was protected by state-of-the-art russian AAA?
i remember the news mega talking about it at the time

Iran did not need, want, or ask for help from either China or Russia

I don't really know what to make of actions like this by the PLO Palestine state or what legitimacy it really has when it's a collaborator with the occupation. I'm also sorta really concerned about why the europeans support palestinian statehood at this moment and also the tony blair bullshit. All of it I suspect is wrapped up in the PLO Palestine and I suspect they're all in opposition to the armed Palestinian resistance in Gaza.

I suspect they're all in opposition to the armed Palestinian resistance in Gaza.

They’ve straight up said as much. I know at least Australia is supporting the two state non-solution, on the condition that the resistance completely disarm and that the future Palestinian state be demilitarised. So this future rump state led by a neutered comprador political class is supposed to exist with no military, immediately next door to a heavily armed rogue state* that just committed genocide against them. It’s a complete joke, and a sick one at that.

*because of course, these western nations aren’t demanding Israel demilitarise. Despite the fact they’re fucking COMMITTING GENOCIDE AS WE SPEAK - if anyone should have their weapons taken away surely it’s the psychotic genocidal state.

I doubt they will remove all the settlers in the west bank, so its basically a bunch of enclaves inside the cauldron of genocidal mania that is israhell. Aka a Bantustan.

I would be surprised if the PLO does not have multiple factions, ranging from selfish bootlickers to people who think they can get a better deal for their people by joining the only 'legitimate' government. So they would be jockeying for power and each week's actions would be decided by who won the negotiations that week.

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 9 points 8 months ago

If the European leaders are effectively supporting it I can only imagine that they are completely and totally confident that it is a project in their control and to their benefit.

[-] theturtlemoves@hexbear.net 6 points 8 months ago

Of course. I'm just saying the PLO is very likely not a monolith.

PLO

the plo hasn't been active in decades ,this the PA which isn't really the same thing

Yeah but Abbas is president of both? Makes it feel interchangeable to those of us further away from things.

that's because Fatah was the main faction of the PLO and Abu Mazen is it's current president

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
