Image is of the Freedom Band performing at the end of the Second National Congress of the Socialist Movement of Ghana, sourced from this article. The same article contains most of the information used in the preamble below.

A little over a week ago, the Socialist Movement of Ghana concluded its second National Delegates Congress in Aburi, gathering 300 delegates from across the country. There, they deepened their commitment to the working class of Ghana and committed to intensifying political education and organization at the grassroots. The SMG itself decided to not electorally contest the 2024 elections in Ghana, but still presented a manifesto, and nonetheless managed to get two SMG members parliamentary seats in the National Democratic Congress.

Anyway, back to the National Delegates Congress: the delegates agreed that the Western imperialist system is now under a profound crisis, in which the likely future is a heightening of brutality, chaos, and resource plundering - a future which must be resisted and organized against.

To summarize their various statements and condemnations:

  • Inside Ghana: a commitment to women's rights, youth empowerment, and environmental protection.
  • A condemnation of the resource plundering of the Democratic Republic of the Congo by imperialist powers.
  • A salute to the people of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, in their campaign against outside imperial control in the Sahel.
  • A condemnation of Morocco's illegal occupation of the Western Sahara, and a call for the UN to identify the independence of the Sahwari people.
  • A strong condemnation of Israel's genocidal atrocities and massive terrorist operations against nearby countries, and support for Palestinian independence.
  • Support for the people of Haiti against outside imperial domination.
  • A call for the end of the blockade on Cuba and their removal from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
  • Solidarity with Maduro and the people of Venezuela against the United States.
  • A rejection of all imperialist aggression and sanctions against Iran.
  • A condemnation of NATO's decades-long military expansion eastwards towards Russia, especially as it has now resulted in massive devastation and risks a third world war.
  • And finally, a commitment to Pan Africanism and international solidarity with all oppressed peoples around the world.

A platform I think we all can agree to!

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair may play an important role in a future transitional authority in Gaza, established under the US peace plan, several British media outlets reported on Friday.

A source close to the former prime minister confirmed that he is working on a project to end the conflict and clarified that the former leader would not support any proposal aimed at permanently displacing the inhabitants of Gaza. In addition, any transition of government should transfer power to the Palestinian Authority, based in Ramallah, West Bank, according to the source.

According to The Economist, this body, called the “International Transitional Authority in Gaza,” will request a UN mandate to be recognized as “the supreme political and legal authority” for five years before transferring control to the Palestinians. Initially, it would be based in Egypt before moving to the Gaza Strip when security conditions allow, according to the BBC. Yosi Cohen, former head of Mossad, told BBC radio on Friday that he “loves” the idea, describing Tony Blair as a “formidable person.”

Russia: ‘We Are Very Concerned About What the US Is Doing Around Venezuelan Waters’ - Orinoco Tribune

Article

Russia is deeply concerned about what the US is doing around Venezuelan waters, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference on Saturday.

“We are certainly very alarmed by what the US has organized now in what are currently international waters, but near Venezuelan territorial waters,” Lavrov said. The foreign minister specified that he spoke with his Venezuelan counterpart, Yván Gil, about the matter the previous day.

“The situation is truly serious, because there are significant armed and naval forces there, including a nuclear submarine, and there are direct threats of military intervention to destroy ‘drug cartels’ and wage war on drug trafficking in general,” Lavrov said in reference to the new euphemisms used by the White House to legitimize a military action aiming at regime change in Venezuela.

Lavrov revealed, without naming specific individuals, that he had been told that the United States and Panama are pushing a Security Council resolution to combat banditry in Haiti. According to him, they are seeking approval for the creation of a group that could use unlimited force against gangs.

“If we compare these two processes … I don’t rule out the possibility that some creative people will come up with a UN Security Council mandate and then claim that Haitian bandits are hiding in Venezuela,” Lavrov suggested.

“We stand in solidarity with the people and government of Venezuela,” he concluded.

The attacks are countless

In August, the US deployed a large military contingent to the Caribbean, under the pretext of the fight against narcotics and with direct accusations against Venezuela.

However, the Venezuelan government has questioned the true reason for the operations, as the Caribbean is not the main route used by drug traffickers to send drugs to the US.

Furthermore, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has repeatedly denied Washington’s accusations. He maintains that his country is the victim of “a multifaceted war” orchestrated by the US in the interest of bringing about “regime change.”

However, the North American country continues with its threats.

US President Donald Trump assured the UN on Tuesday that his country has “no choice” but to eliminate the alleged organizations it has designated as “terrorists” through bombings in the Caribbean. “To every terrorist thug smuggling poisonous drugs into the United States of America, please be warned: We will blow you out of existence. That’s what we’re doing. We have no choice,” he said.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil spoke before the United Nations General Assembly on Friday and condemned the “countless attacks” by the US against his nation.

Why the Chinese government thinks the AFD is going to be anti-empire eludes me. Libs are going to be wilding out, though.

Germany far-right politician's ex-aide sentenced for spying for China

[-] ClathrateG@hexbear.net 19 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I don't know enough to say that the AFD would be anti-empire, I doubt it, but I assume they probably have some isolationist/anti-interventionist stuff swirled up in the racism that could be construed as so

Regardless there's nothing I can see it that article that states the CPC believe(d) the AFD would be anti-empire. It behoves a major geopolitical power such as the PRC to embed agents in any prominent party in any other state regardless of if that party ideologically align with the power doing the recruiting/embedding, that's just realpolitik

Is the US likely to succeed in regime change if it does invade Venezuela?

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 48 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

With an invasion? 100% yes. But it will also plunge into an insurgency or civil war. Something like afghanistan did but with the amazon rainforest.

With whatever it is doing? Strikes followed by a decapitation attack then backing a local politician/party for regime change? They can fail but they'll get to try many times because Venezuela can't do anything about them sitting off the coast.

[-] ColombianLenin@hexbear.net 47 points 6 days ago

With an invasion? 100% yes

No way it is a 100%.

In fact I would say it is very unlikely with a ground war. A ground war plays to the strengths of the Venezuelan Army and people. The only card the gringos have is air strikes.

Al Jazeera Reports (4:05 UTC)

Israeli military vessels disrupted communications of two ships

Brazilian activist and Sumud steering committee member Thiago Avila has said than an Israeli military vessel has disrupted the communication systems of two of the flotilla’s ships.

“An Israeli military vessel just came across our boats intimidating, damaging our communication systems and doing very dangerous maneuvers circling our lead boats ALMA and SIRIUS!” Avila wrote in a post on social media.

“Despite the loss of electronic devices, no one has been injured and we KEEP ON GOING!” he added.

Congo military court sentences former President Kabila to death for treason - ABC News

A military court in Congo has convicted former President Joseph Kabila of treason and other charges and sentenced him to death

A military court in Congo on Tuesday convicted former President Joseph Kabila of treason and other charges and sentenced him to death.

Kabila, who has been on trial in absentia since July and whose whereabouts are unknown, was accused of treason, involvement in an insurrection movement, conspiracy, and supporting terrorism. The prosecutor asked for the death penalty.

The government said Kabilia had collaborated with Rwanda and the M23 rebel group that seized key cities in eastern Congo in January in a lightning assault and has since occupied the cities. Kabila has denied the allegations.

In May, the country’s Senate voted to repeal his immunity from prosecution, a move Kabila denounced at the time as dictatorial.

Kabila had lived outside of Congo in self-imposed exile but returned in April to Goma, one of the cities held by the rebel group. It is not known if he stayed there, and his current location is unknown.
