Republicans have a Nazi porn problem, again. Virginia Republican lieutenant governor nominee John Reid is facing mounting political pressure after a report tied him to a Tumblr blog that reposted Nazi-themed pornography and violent sexual content. The allegations, which Reid has denied, have fueled fresh calls for his withdrawal from the race.

Yo if people in the 80s and 90s could see these headlines they'd not even know how to digest it.

[-] SoloCritical@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Tumblr? Blog? Burn the witch!!

[-] PhilipTheBucket@quokk.au 11 points 2 months ago

It's not a weird coincidence that just keeps happening. There is a reason, it makes a ton of sense once you see it explained.

[-] Dadifer@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

Interesting read, although I still feel like it's a leap to say that a patriarchal society requires pedophilia. What I think is more likely is that the more pedophiles there are in positions of authority, they will prefer to give positions to those in their "special group". I would imagine it almost becomes a right of passage because those in power need something to hold over those under them.

[-] Soup@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Even if they don’t give those positions to them they certainly won’t punish someone for having those same views. And that’s another part of it, where people who aren’t actively bad are still passively enabling everyone who is because it doesn’t affect them personally.

[-] daannii@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

There is some research showing that objectifying women isn't done for sexual gratification but to reduce women's value as a human. To make them lower.

It looks like sexual gratification motivation. But it's not.

It's power.

People have been pointing out for decades how rape isn't about sexual gratification. It's about having power over another person. And they target people where they have a high chance of success.

When men (or at least a large majority) consistently promote objectifying women, it becomes normalized. And if women complain, they are just being complainers. The narrative is promoted that they actually like being objectified because they like the attention.

But talk to any woman and the majority will tell you they don't like being objectified and it makes them feel less respected.

Cause that's exactly what it is.

If you follow this logic, you can see how women start being targeted for this turning them into lower humans at younger ages. Before they even hit puberty.

Because in order for a man to be superior to a woman. She has to know from childhood that she is nothing but an object for his pleasure.

This is called grooming.

And that word is usually applied to a specific situation between 2 people. However, it does happen at a societal scale.

[-] ToastedRavioli@midwest.social 0 points 2 months ago

Trying to make pedo shit out to be an artifact of the patriarchy certainly requires ignoring the fact that there are a ton of women that are pedos. Even in an entirely gender-equitable society there would still be creeps of all genders. Its just a sad fact of life that there are a lot of creeps, and those creeps seek positions of authority in order to enact their creepy shit. Patriarchy has nothing to do with it

[-] daannii@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

"ton of women pedos"? You sure about that?

93.6% men. (2017-2021). Data may be different now.

How many of the reported female ones were just helping their male partner with his sick perversion ?

[-] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

I've looked up some weird porn, but I've never thought to look for Nazi themed porn.

[-] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 1 points 2 months ago

Saw bdsm Hitler bunker on steam and knew this timeline is managed by sheogorath.

[-] Formfiller@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I mean republicans are full Nazi these days so it makes sense. I mean a lot are self loathing gay Nazis but they’re all Nazis now every last one.

[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

I'm not defending the guy in the OP, but "violent", "extreme" and "nazi" porn is a slippery slope. A latex domme facesitting could be framed as extreme, violent, nazi pornography by some people.

[-] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

Nah, there is a big difference between face sitting and fetishizing genocide.

[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I'm saying that, and we had this in the UK with the extreme pornography laws, that puritans (/proto-fascists / cryptofascists) will call it Nazi porn in order to ban it, even if they are (lower-case) nazis themselves

[-] lmmarsano@lemmynsfw.com 0 points 2 months ago

You must have a sheltered existence. Kinky women in taboo, authoritarian uniforms dominating men is a genre common enough to just show up on porn sites without specifically looking: work-safe example.

[-] devolution@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Shit that might get him elected as all conservatives love fucking children and being hateful. Every. One. Of. Them.

[-] mic_check_one_two@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago

I actually think a lot of the voting base actually does genuinely care about protecting children. They simply have a very warped idea of what that entails, because they’ve been given boogeymen to distract from the real problems.

Look at how many republican voters were pissed about the Epstein files not being released. Especially early on, before Fox News figured out their talking points and had time to keep repeating them. Those voters were genuinely upset about it.

“Protect the children” has been a war banner for the right for a long time. It has been something they rally around, and that Fox would use to galvanize voters. For instance, they don’t like drag queens? Say that the drag queens are harmful to children, and those voters will go along with it. And there is a significant percentage of that voting bloc that genuinely believes the “protect the children” message.

The ones in power absolutely love fucking children.

[-] devolution@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Nope.

Conservative PEOPLE love fucking children. It's mainly the right that is asking about child marriage, lowering consent age, banning contraception, and such.

Most documented pedophiles that I've seen tend to be white, male, and lean conservative. Now white women are making an effort to catch up in the fucking children department however.

[-] ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Reid’s longtime partner, Alonzo Mable, is Black.

If they're into race play, that's weird but none of our business. Judge not lest ye be judged for the porn that you like.

[-] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 2 points 2 months ago

Some of the stuff that people are into can tell us about what they're like as people. Fetishizing nazis and white power shit, that's not just a fetish, that shit's a lifestyle, and I'm pretty sure that that carries over into a person's actual political opinions and attitudes. But, it might not be him. That's always a possibility. I'd like some proof that it was.

[-] Lyrl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago

It also appears the entirety of the evidence the Tumblr account is his is the username being the same. That's interesting, but not conclusive.

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

are you … defending his ability to share nazi themed porn?

[-] Triumph@fedia.io 5 points 2 months ago

Yup. He’s got a right to do that. Doesn’t make him a great candidate, though.

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

i don’t want my candidates supporting nazis in any way shape or form.

[-] Triumph@fedia.io 5 points 2 months ago

Me either. He's not my candidate, since I don't live in VA, but if I did, he would not have my vote.

He still has the right to share Nazi porn.

[-] al_Kaholic@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

How do you feel about consensual rape?
-Edited spelling

[-] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 1 points 2 months ago

You mean consensual non consent? That shit freaks me out a little bit, but it doesn't seem to bleed out into most people's lives. Most of the participants aren't rapists. I'm willing to bet every dollar that I have that people that are on Tumblr using white supremacist and nazi terms, fetishizing the ideologies, sure as hell have some measure of belief in them. There's even a political compass for fetishes (yes, I know that the political compass is pretty useless, but it kind of lets us know about where the average participant leans). Raceplay, was the most authoritarian right-wing result.

[-] al_Kaholic@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 2 months ago

Speaking of race play. Lol who do you think is watching all that interracial pron? Perhaps people who slip in the n word? What are your thoughts on anime porn?

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago
[-] al_Kaholic@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 2 months ago

Fixed autocorrect spelling thank you sir.

[-] lmmarsano@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 2 months ago

i don’t want my candidates ~~supporting nazis in any way shape or form~~ engaging in deviant sexual fantasies

FTFY

Do other deviant sexual fantasies imply support of the fantasized subject? eg

  • restraints imply support of illegal detention & coercion?
  • rape-fantasy imply support of real rape?
[-] flandish@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

what are you talking about? I’m all for anything that makes anyone happy. and unless the fantasy is about doing things to the nazis, that I won’t type online, the fantasy must be other wise supporting them.

any candidate that supports nazis and their culture normalizes them. normalizing nazis is never a good thing.

you make it seem like “if it’s a fantasy it’s ok.”

a very slippery and childish slope.

[-] lmmarsano@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

It is fantasy which isn't support. You're conflating.

People fantasize & act out fantasies of being abducted & raped with consenting partners: doesn't mean they support actual rape. Some guys imagine & act out being subjected to oppressive sexual situations & others get a rush indulging their fantasies: doesn't mean they support oppression, either.

Work on your cognitive dissonance.

A slippery slope is to argue pretense & fantasy inevitably lead to non-fantasy (such as real endorsement): a fallacy you commit.

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

i spent many years as a dom to my now late wife. no, binding and such do not mean I support real rape.

but it did normalize it to her. because she was a victim of it in her earlier days.

and consenting to a fantasy allowed her control of it.

NONE OF THAT is the same as normalizing nazis. sheesh. would you be ok if someone wanted to age play in a manner illegal otherwise?

you’re just baiting.

[-] lmmarsano@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Nope, it's logically the same thing & and you're doing some weird mental gymnastics pretending it's not. It's the basic formula of taboo + kink: not hard to understand.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Wait, this is a gay Republican who is also in an interracial relationship?

Um, does he not understand that conservatives....have plans....for people like him?

[-] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 4 points 2 months ago

Nope, John Reid thinks he's one of the good ones.

[-] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Republicans: Democrats call us fascist and Nazis and it hurts our fee fees.

Also Republicans: Masturbates furiously to Nazi porn.

Every accusation is a sticky mess of an admission with these guys

[-] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 months ago

Surely he's the ideal choice to be the next GOP Presidential candidate?. Just go and rant ability some minority sacrificing dogs or some shit and he's a shoe in.

[-] Soup@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

And his base will still say there’s more proof about the dog thing despite it being 100% fabricated.

[-] moistmotherboard@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 months ago

That is a headline.

[-] SlartyBartFast@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

Nazi porn scandal? The fuck?

[-] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

Multiple, in fact.

[-] minorkeys@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

The Nazi label really isn't working as a deterrent for their base.

[-] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Its crazy to me they are seeing it as a feature, not a bug. Its like they forgot their grandfathers fought and killed Nazis to free the world from fascists.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Oh, but they'll cry about how it's so mean to call them fascists.

Also, they'll pull some Murc's Law shit and act like they were made to be fascists because of the mean Democrats...

[-] MrSmiley@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 months ago

“The masses have never thirsted after truth... . Whoever can supply them with illusions is easily their master; whoever attempts to destroy their illusions is always their victim.”

The Crowd, Le Bon

Propaganda must be continuous and lasting—continuous in that it must not leave any gaps, but must fill the citizen’s whole day and all his days; lasting in that it must function over a very long period of time.’ Propaganda tends to make the individual live in a separate world; he must not have outside points of reference. He must not be allowed a moment of meditation or reflection in which to see himself vis-a-vis the propagandist, as happens when the propaganda is not continuous.

Propaganda, Ellul

Words and symbols have no real meaning to these people. They are more like mantras, or incantations, to elicit conditioned feelings and demonstrate whether one belongs to the group or not. Fascist has no emotional meaning tied to the term, it’s just a meaningless noise “the others” make.

[-] Soleos@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Yeah, both possibilities mentioned are plausible. Some actual investigation and evidence tying him to the account are warranted.

[-] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

At least it's not CP?

Ugh, this is all so disgusting
