Xchange (2000). It has some trans elements in the dialogue so this little (at the time) teenage trans girl got it forever etched into her memory.
Yes this was it exactly! Thank you.
Glad I could help :)
If you ever need to find obscure movies with tidbits of info you remember, chatgpt is really good at finding them. It sucks at a lot of stuff but scouring the internet for movie and book references works well
I chose not to use AI for ethical reasons. My first thought after having exhausted DDG searches and reddit searches was to go to AI, but alsa I chose not to because I think using AI is wrong.
It is a massive waste of resources. And for the most part its searches do what google used to return in 2010 era before all the garbage. Stract.com is my goto for old searches.
Plus everyone here can consent to giving answers. If AI is or ever ends up being sentient it would be extremely immoral to exploit them.
A basic search told me the movie is Transcendence, 2014
You beat me to it, has to be this one mixed up with another one about the body expiring, Time Out maybe?
It’s in your name
Depending on how accurate you’re remembering, could be Johnny Mnemonic.
That brian typo really gave me a chuckle. Hope you found the movie you were looking for.
There was an Outer Limits episode with this plot - "Identity Crisis" with Lou Diamond Phillips
Some elements of this sound like the plot of Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, starring Raul Julia, and made famous by its appearance on Mystery Science Theatre 3000: https://youtu.be/2hBEh1JJ1E0
Life of Brian
Could you be thinking of Source Code with Jake Gyllenhaal?
Part of what you describe (sans the transfer thing) sound like the main plotline of Bladerunner.
No its not blade runner for sure, I've seen blade runner both of them a couple times now. Classics, but not what I'm thinking of.
The worker is like a product model, there are lots of other worker bodies like this one I think. They are like low budget crap bodies.
It doesn't sound anything like Blade Runner, lol.
Blade Runner is about hunting down replicants who look human. It has nothing to do with...
Oh, wait, you know what? No. Actually, the time limit on the life of replicants. I guess I could see that connection. My bad.
But they have their own life, so there wasn't like somebody else copied into them.
Star Trek Enterprise, Tripp needs some organ donations if I remember right. The doctor clones him for organ harvesting and the clone is terminated to save the life of Tripp.
Maybe Saturn 3?
I remember a low key production (maybe mexicain) where the protagonist is a Drone Pilot called : Dream_Something_
Which is the title of the movie but I cannot remember what it is
Edit : Sleep Dealer
Chappie? District 9? Sort of related to what you're describing.
You thinking of chappie?
