I assume the Canadians would welcome China flying military aircraft just off the coast of Canada
Hey, it's international airspace right?
All jokes aside, this is a totally normal response from a functioning country. Only the US would reflexively shoot down shit in international airspace near its boarder. Showing up and doing a bit of hazing is just how pilots pass the time during the routine "hey, go out there and make sure they know we have warplanes in the area" missions.
Also shows that the pilot is well trained and maybe makes the bigger spyplane think twice about pulling anything knowing there's a dude who basically just stalled a fighter 10ft from their wing without losing any stability.
China: next to their country
Canada: not
Canada: "how dare you"
Do we have a name for this "retraction propaganda"? Start with a bold and flimsy claim and walk it back into something totally mundane, but the damage has been done. Same thing with the atrocity propaganda about Hamas. Or the spy balloon that wasn't, or countless other examples.
The discourse in the comments on the video:
-
Headline: AGGRESSIVE PLAAF BEHAVIOUR THREATENS CANADIAN AIRCRAFT
-
oh, well yeah they were right off China's coast. Canada would do the same thing if a Chinese fighter came over to BC to "enforce a blockade" on a Canadian ally.
-
Retraction: Ok but they flew way too close 😡 It's unprofessional
And like, at this point, who gives a shit? Who would take seriously a front page headline about one instance of slightly unprofessional conduct
It's a form of Motte-and-Bailey argument called "burying the lede"
Reminds me of the Chinese pilot who spoke to a Taiwanese pilot over comms during an aerial encounter and said "Does it feel good to be a dog for the Americans?"
I wonder if these GI Jagoffs feel like little crybabies after they tell some journalist that the Chinese are being too aggressive with them while they fly their American made jets on the other side of the planet to harass China
If you watch the video, the pilot is actually just giggling and impressed with the fighter pilot. The reporter is panicking and asking if this is an "aggressive intercept"
cool video, thanks!
id probably be panicking too if i was the reporter, that's really goddamn close lol
I loved that interaction.
Is it 5 meters away from us?!
Haha more like 10 feet. Wow.
It's getting close hahahaha
The pilot sounds like he's lecturing a child.
Go home you maple-sucking moose jockeys
Canada taking a lot of L's recently
As it should

Death to America
"If there was sincerity on your part, than we shall conduct our discussion with an attitude of mutual respect, otherwise there might be unpredictable consequences."
Where is the quote from?
Love this one. Top tier disdain from xi
Can't get mad about China flying in international airspace near Taiwan and also get mad when China tries to protect international airspace near China.
Wait...
